Spawning generic NPC's

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 7:06 am

I could not find anything with a quick search, but please direct me to an existing thread if it does exist :)

So we all know Skyrim is not exactly crowded/populated and could do with more citizens. As a PC-gamer, I could easily spawn a mini-army of generic NPC's to freely roam the city and make the towns feel more alive. However, would this interfere with the game somehow? As much as I like to see Whiterun and Riften become more crowded and more alive, I would hate to have it conflict with my game in the long-term.

Does anyone know if we can safely spawn more characters inside the city walls, without any downsides?
Any information would be much appreciated :)

I don't believe there would be any issues, no. Interesting idea.

I wonder how they would behave; If there's a standard set of behavior for them or that they have no AI whatsoever. If they eat, sit, talk, etc that would be great, but I'm not too sure.

Best thing to do is wait for the Creation Kit, releases next month, and create more real NPCs. Also gives a excuse for expanding the somewhat small cities one house at a time.

Is there anyone who has spawned tons of mindless NPC's to see what they do?
Anyone? :)
