Mudcrab vs Dragon

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:32 pm

So I was travelling from someplace to somewhere else (Elsweyr?) when a Dragon landed with a terrific boom not far from me.

I hurled dual-cast Firebolts at it until it had about a quarter of it's health left, then realised it was fighting something else (I had it stunlocked most of the time so it didn't have much chance to attack).

Curious, I edged a bit closer and there was a mudcrab, stoically battling this fire-breathing leviathan.

Humoured, I stopped attacking the dragon, then lo and behold! The dragon rose up on it's hindquarters and it's keening death-wail ensued. The great beast toppled to the ground and the lowly mudcrab shuffled away with complete nonchalance.

Interestingly, the dragon was actually attacking this resilient crab, but was outmatched!

Talk about punching above your weight, what an upset!

As an aside, when I went to claim the dragon's soul the cocky little crab must have thought it could take me, being bolstered by it's huge win over the dragon and all. Sufice to say that about two seconds later it was cooked in it's own shell. A shame, really. Imagine the stories it could have told it's grandchildren . . .

This is why there are no Daedra in Skyrim hardly. The horses and Mudcrabs have ran em out of town.

I saw a mudcrab the other day.. He ate lord Dagon's face.

I would've just walked away and let the mudcrab have its moment.

"I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than you" - Now I understand what he meant. It's because he fought this dragon-slaying mudcrab. Or spectral mudcrabs. Who knows?

I considered it, but my itchy trigger finger got the better of me.

Yeah sorry, I didn't really think to at the time, plus playing on xbox so no way to capture a screenshot. That particular scenario will probably never play out again either, more's the pity!

It's little things like this that really make Skyrim special and unique.

Normally I make pics of funny sightings with my phone, but this one time swimming around with my underwater breathing gear; I saw a rabbit dash off on the bottom of the lake I was exploring. It ran so fast I didn't manage capturing it -_-

I've seen this sheet going down.

The other day there was me and a bunch of guards bow and arrowing a dragon.

We got it down on the ground by a stream and were unleashing hell into it.

Being of not AI I decided to stand back a bit as it was pretty angry but the foolish sweet roll loving guards were right up close and receiving the full force of its breath and teeth.

Once the guards were mainly dead the beast only had a tiny bit of health left so I fell fly furiously with my bow and arrow.

However I noticed its attention was fixed on something else.

Then it died.

I approached and some guards were now fighting a mud crab that had obviously provided the final snip of its claw and killed the dragon.

It was mightily ammused.

Now you might ask why the Dragons AI, when fighting 4 guards and me, is fixed on a tiny mud crab. You could argue that its AI was broken. I however would disagree! I'd say that the mud crab was the most fearsome of the Dragons opponents that day.

All hail the mud crab.

Indeed.

It wasn't the blades nor the Dragonborn that lead the dragons to extinction.

It was the Mudcrabs!

Oh i have just though of something glorious.

Every creature and human should have a chance at turning into a daedra or any other powerful creature, just for the hell of it.

One moment you face a harmless skeever, the next you are reloading your save game.

I started a new game the other day, to show a friend who hasn't seen Skyrim yet.
In short, he was utterly blown away by the intro and the escape. As I was walking down towards Riverwood, marvelling at the view, we saw a fox come sprinting past - and hot on it's heels was a rabbit.

We both just cracked up laughing, I followed the unlikely pair and sure enough, the rabbit was chasing the fox up into the mountains. It was hilarious.

A bit different to what you said but it brought it to mind.

Dont like mudcrabs. Took me 20 something attempts once to free a certain stormcloak from the guards. On the one occasion i managed to do it was just about to save when i was killed by a damn mudcrab. They sneak up on you and like to strike when you have low energy.

Lol, I witnessed this just yesterday. A blood dragon flew over me, managed to shoot an arrow at him as he breathed fire at me, then he flew off and started attacking a mudcrab. Should I be insulted? Didn't stay around to see who won as I was on my way to a cave!

Don't be insulted. The dragon's threat detectors are unrivalled - it went for the most dangerous opponent without a doubt. ;)

Or there is some secret war between the dragons and mudcrabs that we haven't been to privy to yet . . .
