Help me decide on my warrior class :)

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:46 am

I have a few warrior classes that I want to play but I cannot decide which one I want to play first and use as a main character. I'll have a description of the style of each underneath. I like to role-play so my characters are usually based on the style I'm playing. And I also play on Master difficulty because I love the challenge.

#1
Imperial Paladin. Race: Imperial. Skills: Heavy Armor, One Handed (focusing on maces and maybe use of swords), Blocking, Restoration. This guy is going to be a good person who does good things for the people. I might add smithing and possibly enchanting later for role-play but I won't add them until late as I love using armor I find. I don't know how I will distribute the Health/Stamina/Magicka, I'm thinking of 1:2 - Health:Stamina, I don't know about adding Magicka, I'll see if I need it for healing in the future.

#2
Nord Barbarian. Race: Nord. Skills: Light Armor, Two Handed (focus on Battleaxes and Greatswords), Blocking (for slow time and blocking increase maybe more), I think I might add smithing though maybe later. This person I think will be a brute who's evil and kills anyone who stands in his way, he charges into a battle a walks away in blood (It will be hard for me not to help people as I'm usually good). For his Health/Stamina/Magicka, I'm thinking 2:1 - Health:Stamina. He's in light armor and with the +50% regen he should be quite good with a lower stamina. As for health I think he'll need quite a bit on Master with Light Armor and a 2H with not so great block.

#3
Brutal Orc. Race: Orsimer. Skills: Heavy Armor, Two Handed (Mainly Warhammers and Battleaxes), Blocking (Same for Barbarian), I will add smithing as Orcs are known to be good smiths, but like other classes probably later. This character is very similar to the Barbarian except he's an Orc and wears Heavy Armor. Same brutal baddass killer. I've also never tried an Orc ever. For his Health/Stamina/Magicka, I'm thinking 1:1 Health:Stamina. It's a good balance and he's a mix because his armor helps with protection and makes up for the shield. He will still need Stamina for power swinging I suppose and maybe the weapon bashing as well. I don't know if he should have more Health though, maybe 2:1 but I can't decide because of my indecisiveness.

#4
Light Warrior. Race: Nord/Imperial Im thinking, maybe redguard. Skills Light Armor, One Handed (Swords mainly), Blocking. I was thinking maybe adding sneak but I hate mixing my Warrior/Thief/Mage together ;). This guy I don't know if he's good or bad, he's just a mix of my Barbarian and Imperial. I just wondered if the "light on your feet" style was fun really. For Health/Stamina/Magicka, I'm thinking either 1:1 or 2:1 - Health:Stamina. This character will need a bit of stamina for shield bashing, power attacking ect but with the light armor and regen it maybe needs a little less than the Paladin. I still need a bit of Health for when the shield doesn't help as light armor won't be too helpful early on. Hard decision I just know the skills...

#5
Dual Wield Orc. Race: Orsimer. Skills: One Handed (Dual Wielding Axes, maybe swords and even maces, maybe a mix, who knows...), Heavy Armor/Light Armor (I havn't decided but the safer option is Heavy, but lighter may help with Stamina it's a mix), maybe Smithing (for role-play as I said before, Orcs seem talented here). He's the same as the Brutal Orc/Barbarian as he'll be a brutal savage. This character is just a secondary way of playing an Orc. As for Health/Stamina/Magicka, I'm thinking 1:1 if it's heavy armor or 2:1 if it's Light Armor. I don't know this is just an alternative option I just can't decide.

Thanks for all the help and decisions. I'm too indecisive. I think all these classes are great and doable but I want a main character that does most things (though evil - evil quests only which are hard to find and good - good quests only). I'd love to make a hybrid Good/Bad but I can't decide on how to role-play as I'm a purist you could say. I need things to be seperate. Warrior/Mage/Thief - Good/Bad ect... Maybe the light warrior could be both, does anything to survive/for money?

I'm leaning towards the Brutal Orc or Paladin but I want to play all of them but cannot decide.... Thanks again :P

If you could also leave a comment on your choice/opinion/changes or ideas for the class feel free to do so. Thanks for the third time :)

I like both the Imperial Paladin for a good person and the Brutal Orc for a bad person. Both seperate styles but awesome.

Imperial Paladin seems the most orgranized and decided build of all. 1:2 sounds good, maybe change at 200-300 Stamina and go 1:1? I don't know though. You've already got everything set for the character. The Brutal Orc sounds fun but the Health/Stamina is quite tricky for balance. I think 1:1 - Health:Stamina or maybe 1:2 Stamina and change at around 150-300 Stamina similar to Paladin? Or maybe keep doing 1:1 until Stamina feels good and then continue 1:1 or maybe 2:1 Health:Stamina that way you become a tank but have Stamina as well.

Also Restoration for role-play a lot of the perks aren't good I wouldn't think.

I'd say the Dual Wield Orc with light armor and smithing to make sure it offers maximum protection.

Dual wield with light armor. I did it and it was awesome, especially if you use daggers and get the 15x sneak attack damage. You can go mining for lots of materials to make good light armor, then you can make them exquisite, and have 200+ armor at really low levels.
Focus on: One handed, Light armor, Smithing, Enchantment, Restoration and Destruction (if you get in sticky situations). You will thank me later.

I'm not going to use daggers or 15x sneak attack damage because I already have an assassin for that :P
I will also not use Destruction and Restoration for the Orc class as I like to role-play no matter how much I struggle I play to my style. I just like to separate my classes. Paladin I was even contemplating healing because I like my Warrior/Mage/Thief separate. Orcs to me aren't a magic style to me personally so I will refrain from any magic and be pure melee/warrior. I may smith after and enchanting as a last resort though I don't really think it suits my role-play style. I'm not for making the most powerful, just enjoy role-playing as a certain type.

Thanks for the input :)

If you want a challenge I'd say go with the Barbarian. Light Armor and 2H = low defence, that meansplaying on Master will be one hell of a challenge.

He'd be a brutal person who is always on the tough side of things. So he always uses intimidation (Fighting) to get his way, no one disrespects him or else. The thing is if you want to do all the quests on one character it's hard because you have to do good and bad quests. Maybe be a brutal bad person but does anything to help for reward. Or maybe he does help but he does it his own way with brutality. I think 2:1 sounds good as you need less Stamina but more Health.

I think of Barbarians as unsocial bad people though. So Companions and that don't suit so much. But I don't actually know what Barbarians were truly like? Maybe make a brutal good guy. Kills and does what he wants but when he does it he does it completely. So maybe if you have to kill someone you will kill them instead of letting them live. But if it's a nice quest such as a delivery or such I don't know if he'd do those quests or shun them.

Thanks mate! I am going the stormcloak route because I think he wants traditional ways and wants Nords to rule the land.

They sound evil though and if I'm to role-play as a similar style would I not be able to do any quests that help innocent people/civillians?

I'd do a Breton Paladin , Imperial Paladin is perhaps better for roleplay , but without the 25% magic resist of Breton . The worst thing a Paladin can face is a powerful mage , so better take a Breton IMHO , since the Imperial race power is almost useless

Well my current 2nd character is a Breton Sword and shield gladiator , Maximus Decimus Meridius , at first i picked an Imperial but then i realized it was not the soundest choice , Redguards , Orcs and Bretons makes better Paladins IMHO , since they have useful race bonus

This said it's just my opinion , you can still enchant some gear against magic and find some resist magic items with your imperial paladin , it's just that if you do the same with a Breton paladin , you'll resist even better or will have a free slot for something else

I know Bretons have a great racial ability but I don't play to be effective, I play to have fun and role-play. That's why I went Imperial. Even if it's really hard, I'll make do ;)

i am playing a orc beserker. he is just pure heavy amour, axes and sheilds. even though people would possibly go 2h with warriors i find sheilds are handy in battle for the shield bash staggers and usually being a worrior class you can get pretty f*cked up by mages and dragons since you rely on melee attacks alot but that can be fixed with the elemental protection perk in block (reduces incoming fire, shock and frost damage by 50%) got his smithing up to full to get dragon amour and am working on getting heavy amour, block and one handed up. once you have sheilds and heavy amours up full and have the best perks picked dragons cant do sh*t. but i guess if u still wanna go 2h then you are just sacrificing extra amour for damage witch is alright .
