Fire breath shout feels weak

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:59 pm

I have the fire breath shout with all the words learned, I go and use it and it is fun to use but it feels weak and underpowered. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I feel the same way too. Sometimes though I use it and they run away in fear, anyone ever get that?

A bit. Try drawing a crowd into a group and letting it go though. It does equal damage to all of the people hit, so it gives me the feel of being more powerful.

Yea, there is almost never a reason to use it over unrelenting force. Even a maxed out fire breath will not reach the damage potential of wailing on an opponent downed by "fus ro dah."

The only opponents I really find it useful for are trolls. They can't heal while on fire....

I thought I was the only one who felt the same. Even with Paarthurnax giving me a little boost with fire shouts.

Totally agree. I think the elemental damage shouts are worthless. I certainly don't feel like a dragon when using them... :(

Combat shouts are kind of "meh" period. About the only one's are use are the utility oriented ones. I almost forget I have shouts at times. Its a shame something so central to your character's lore is so lackluster.

Yep.

Unrelenting Force > Fire breath (except for trolls, but it's still kinda useless)
Ice form > Frost breath

What is the point of Fire and Frost breath, other than to look cool?

I love BASE jumping with Become Ethereal, and spanning large crevasses and rivers with Whirlwind Sprint!

When I saw dragon use fire breath, I thought I'll do the same

finds out that yol-toor-shul shout is just like naruto fire blast technique

I don't find them weak. I find the cooldown is too long. I've seen my firebreath oneshot mobs and take significant chunks of HP off enemy mobs. It also has a stagger effect if used correctly.

Yeah it's pretty useless all around. Even the 3 word shout.

like magic, i don't think its damage truly scales.

so it ends up being rarely used, and stuff like slowtime/elementalfury/crowd-controls are superior.

yeah when you're playing on master and the dragons shouts do like 20x the damage your shouts do, it makes it kind of hard. I literally had a 35 minute long battle with a blood dragon cus i had no potions and we were at a standoff where hed keep shooting me and id had to run behind this pillar, and pop out whenever i had the chance to shoot him with fire breath.

But yeah i noticed the frost and fire breath to be a little underpowered - at least the cool down time for the damage they do. Either increase the damage of them, or decrease the cool down time on them.

This. When I draw people into a crowd and let one go it suffocates them every single time.

It's because shouts don't scale with the player level. Just wait until the construction set comes out, someone is bound to make a mod that makes the scale. Until then, the only ones that are useful are ones that work indefinitely, such as unrelenting force, ice form, marked for death, whirlwind sprint, etc.

For some reason I think the Frost Breath is really weak. Not so much the Fire Breath.

would have made more sense from a canceling out stand point. dragon uses fire shout, no problem, throw a blizzard shout at him to cancel it. death lord used a unrelenting force, no problem, throw one right back at him and create a shock wave in the middle of the room. little touches make a enjoyable game even more enjoyable. right now i have 4 shouts out of like 12 hot keyed, some of which i have 0 souls invested in.

Storm Call > All

Just.....no. It's the worst shout in the game. I agree, it's pretty cool, but it'd be the best shout in the game if it didn't effect every single damn thing that moved. If it only hurt enemies, then I'd love it.
