Did they beta test this game?

Twice I have encountered serious glitches that nearly wrecked two storylines and forced me & my friend to troubleshoot and fumble[censored] our way through development mistakes. The first was during the main storyline when you have to summon the dragon. I shouted for 10 minutes and he didn't come and then I reloaded a save state from an hour earlier and redid a bunch of stuff and he didn't come until, miraculously, after shouting for 1/2 an hour in every inch of the platform the dragon came. Wow!

The second error happened to a different user on a different computer during the Mage guild quest line. After the "class," that the mage guy gives when he tells us to go to the ruins and meet him in a couple of hours he doesn't show up. I also had to reload a bunch of times and mess with the game until it worked. Both PCs are state of the art and the game is properly installed.

Coupled with the notorious magic resistance glitch the above is just unacceptable for a major studio. These errors should have been found and fixed in the beta. Did Bethesda release the game to users to test? Did they do their testing entirely internally? Did they test this game at all?

They had a release date to hit set by their publisher. That is greater than fixing bugs unfortunately

Of course they did, but games now days are released with glitches and bugs. Expect patches and mods to fix stuff.

I guess it is making more sense now, but it still blows. I would rather wait another year to play a glitch-free game. I mean, Diablo III has been in development for, like what, 10 years?

Yeah, it won't be busted forever, but on the other hand I only get to experience a storyline for the first time once. The most enjoyable part of TES games are the first few days/weeks of gameplay. When I do a second run of the game in six months and it runs smoothly it will not be the same.
