Dragon Soul Absorption has given me an IDEA!

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:46 am

Dunno if any of you ever watched Highlander and liked it, but I was just thinking(uh oh)

Let's say you weren't the only dragon-born in Skyrim, and you had other Dragon-born that wanted to steal your dragon souls and shouts, but if you killed them, you got THEIR dragon souls and shouts, combined with the traditional soul absorption energy streams that you get with dragons, and you learn a new word or set of words (modded in of course) that are already unlocked due to the other dragon-born's dragon souls.

Combine that with a setting to always decapitate them after you kill them, then you've got yourself a kickass mod with a decent amount of side quests, interesting battles, and probably some kickass music if the modder so chooses.

Make this take place after the final battle because the other dragon-born would have to logically be stronger than the final boss (considering a dragon-born was supposed to be able to kill it in the first place).

I think it would be epic!

Yeah, all we need now is some like lazer sword things and a ring that makes you invisble except to Ice wraiths, then it will be amazing!

Who said anything about an MMO? Or as I like to call them, "a glorified chat room". Those pathetic abortions of the video game industry need to die sooner than later.

I'm saying the other dragon-born would be NPCs.

And to be honest, I can definitely see it turning into a motorcycle with the two wheels being those spike balls of death. But that's for the Dwemer Workshop mod.

But then all the emperors would have to kill their children, if it is hereditary...I see a flaw in your master plan!

To add to my earlier idea about the Dwemer Centurions, we could make some good and some bad, we could call them autocons for the goodies and deceptibots for the baddies! What do ya reckon?

Or we could make mud crabs have 2 legs and arms, dreadlocks, and let them climb trees. Also give them a heat seaking magic wand that kills people instanly by blowing them up. The only way you could tell they were gonna blow you up is if you see a red triangle appear on your body. Luckily they live next to water, so the only way to survive is by jumping in the water, because water is cold and would make their heat seaking magic wand not work?

What ya reckon?

I'd just figured Dragon souls absorption came from Demon Souls.

I am curious if someone could make an assassination/thief mission in which you have to find creative ways to trick mages that can use life detection.

Dragon head soul glitch FTW. autocons are master pickpockets
This sounds like a good excuse for multiplayer,

autocons are master pickpockets

True that! We could make a quest, that specifcally tells a story concentrating on this ability!

We could make some of them like pirates, but really nice and funny pirates (not bad, they are autocons after all!), who go off occasionally on really crazy adventures on their ship. We could call the main autocon 'Captain Hack Barrow' (so named after destryoing many Draugers in his relenteless search for ancient treasures buried in the many barrows along the coastline of skyrim). We could be the unassuming blacksmith apprentice (fully outfitted in overpowered and exploited armour and weapons) who unwittingly get dragged into this crazy adventure.

This shouldn't be an easy quest though, as the infamous Captain Hack Barrow is relentlessly harrased by the notorious Cavey Bones ,a Drauger Deathlord (who has his liver stored in a sowing box after a night out with a hag raven...long story), employed by the evil deceptibots on board his ship the 'Flying Kvatchman'.

I don't want to spoil the ending, so all those who are eagely awaiting the ending look away now!

*spoiler* The end of the quest see's Captain Hack Barrow face off against the mighty sea beast known as 'The Bracken', a huge Horker able to swallow ships whole, who takes them to Cavey Bones' Cupboard (a huge storage device able to store limitless items- I did 'to and fro' over this idea, but seeing the many storage devices of this nature in Skyrim, i thought it wouldn't break the immersion)!

After defeating 'The Bracken' in our exploited armour, we then come face to face with Cavey Bones and his Deceptibot friends. After some crazy fights (where nobody is actually killed), we gain control of the sowing box containing Cavey Bones' Liver. We thus then have all the power and we win the day!

On a totally geeky, yet wholely relevant, sidenote:

In the original screenplayt for the first film written by Gregory Widen, when Connor defeated The Kurgan, the built up engery of all the immortals of the past was to flow through the Kurgan and breathe life into the form of a mighty dragon that Connor then had to face down and slay to claim to the prize (it never indicated why, exactly, though fan speculation focuses on the assumption that had Connor lost, the immortal energies would have been respread across the world, and the game would begin anew, but thats beside the point). This battle with the dragon would subsequently be cut from the story in further renditions of the script, but not everything was entirely lost. In the final film, we actually see all the energies flowing through The Kurgan's neck as his head falls. Not quite teh same as them forming a dragon to battle, but they managed to salvage some of that concept, too... at least in a way.

Here in the final quickening, you can see what was left of this original concept.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AoOa-Fz2kw

The idea of the dragon was utilized in form and then expounded upon through the quickening, with the various powers of the immortals representing themselves into apparitions within the energy transferrance. Ture the dragon gets pulled back a bit, and the increase leads t oa truly demonic form (presumably the final essence of The Kurgan, himself) coming down upon Connor, but still... its in there, if only but for a moment.

Anyway! Great topic! When I absorbed my first dragon soul, my thoughts rushed to Highlander, as well.
But the I am, and always have been, a die hard Highlander really devoted fan (not that you could've guessed, lol).

Now, now... to be fair, that anime feature came out more than 20 years after the franchise's first film.

There were 5 live action films (made in 1986, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2008);
a 6 season live action TV series (lasting from 1992 to 1998);
a single season spin-off series (from 1998 to 1999);
an American animated series that went for 2 seasons (from 1995 to 1996);
that referenced anime feature film (that came out in 2007);
all concluding with a pseudo TV series reunion DVD special (in 2009).

Aside from film, there have also been a number of novels and comic books based on the series.
Also a remake/reboot of the franchise is currently in production at Summit Entertainment.
