Changing your race

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:48 am

Lets say I regret chosing my race after a while. I change it using the console, then take all my skills back to the same value using the player.setav command. Would this damage my character in any other way than the change of racial ability?
Thanks.

the health, magicka and stamina is also screwed up. they will be added equally with as many points as your lvl allows.... like 200 magicka, 200 health, 200 stamina

You can adjust those using the same command stated in my post above.

Skills will have 'actually' gained skill levels in an entirely different way compared to what you originally chose, so you shouldn't be the same level you were then..
But then there's the aspect of the player.setav command not actually giving you any XP for leveling when you change your skill values, meaning you could be a level 1 with 40 one-handed and 50 block and 60 smithing etc, with no perks.

Just listing two possibilities I can come up with, without any knowledge of what actually will happen. :spotted owl:

Setting skills by the console to try to fake a level is never really a good idea. A lot of the game is set up (perks, for example) so that they are triggered on level up. You're not actually leveling up, you're simply setting actor values.

Can you try to express it more clearly? Do you mean, lets say I type in to make my sneak 99 when it was 15, will I need the experience to take it from 15 to 16 to take it from 99 to 100 in that case?
