OOO 1.34 Beta 5 Light of Day crash

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:21 am

Wassup?

I just got the Light of Day in the 1.34 Beta 5 of OOO and I've got a little problem. Whenever I equip it I CTD. Now, I'm a vampire and bad things happen to me when I equip it, but I have serious doubts that a CTD is supposed to happen. I know this has been posted in other places, but the ones I could find didn't tell me how to fix it. Does anyone know what causes this CTD and how to fix it? Thanks for the help :)

Speaking of 1.34 b5, I am currently trying to install it. However I don't know where to put all the files. can I just put the .dds in textures, the .nif in meshes etc, do they not need to be in specific sub folders? And do I just replace the old .esp/.esm files?

I wouldn't know, I used omod. Just download omod. If you can figure out how to use it it's a time saver. I don't remember how to use it.

I have yet to find an OMOD installer for the beta patch. In fact I've found several websites asking people to make an OMOD installer FOR the patch. Do you still have the link you used?

You don't need to do anything special to make an OMOD from the 1.34b5 patch, just dump the archive into the OBMM mods folder and follow standard OMOD creation procedure. The patch is a simple package, no extra scripting is needed.

As for the resources, yes, keep the directories provided by the package intact when moving all the resources into your Data folder. However, I must discourage manual installation as it is very hard to undo those. At least use OMODs, but I strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with Wrye Bash and BAIN.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35230 if you wish to do so.

Should not be. Do you have any vampire mods installed?

I did some looking and found someone who typed "Set PcVampire to -1" in the console - basically because the sword checks to see if you are a vampire. Longshot but worth a test.

I'm using a vampire mod yes, but it doesn't alter the vampire variable, just the abilities, some scripted.

I had this problem before, Use the command Set OOOLightOfDawnUseFlame to 0 and see if still crash. Mine worked.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it did not solve the problem. I still CTD about 3 seconds after equipping The Light of Day.

Can you test without the vampire mod installed? Just to eliminate that as the possible conflict.

The problem seems to have something to do with me being a vampire, and not the vampire mod I'm using. I disabled the vampire mod and the problem persisted. I used the console to cure myself of vampirism. I tested both PCVampire 0 and -1. So long as I am not actually a vampire I don't CTD when I equip The Light of Day. I'll have to look at the actual script of the sword, but my knowledge of scripting is limited. I'm still open to suggestions.

Well, I never thought of playing with the Light Of Dawn as a vampire. Is that even possible? You may want to ask in the OOO thread about this.
