Werewolf or Vampire

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:58 pm

vampire. playing master difficulty and using -100% illusion/restoration cost enchants on fur armor(like the look). i control minds and never even have to fight if desired. i walk into a room and make everyone destroy themselves. you can get stamina and magicka regen from restoration and light armor trees (these or enchants will help you regen stats even in sunlight)

illusion+ and sneak+ benefits of a vampire are great if that is your playstyle. one thing worth noting is that some enemies cannot be mind controlled unless you go vampire (even with full illusion perks).

Keyword: "if."

The condition you suggest is a method of circumventing a disability granted by vampirism, which supports the notion that it comes with disabilities. Becoming a werewolf imparts to you either no downsides or negligibly minimal ones, while being a vampire requires you to manage it and generously bestows upon you multiple negative effects.

It's a playstyle choice. Being a vampire can be fun when RPing. Unlike a werewolf which is basically just another weapon, not much else.

Team Edward! Just kidding, I haven't even seen all of the first Twilight movie... I was watching for Media Studies, got to a baseball scene and then never saw any more.

I like Wolves but I think Vampires are awesome. I wish I could be like Blade, half vampire so I can get the benefits and not the negatives ;)

You gotta love it when people tremble before you as you [censored] their city.

Therefore, vampires are [censored]es.

From what I read, it seems that some people don't know about the howls. By default, if you press z while in werewolf form, you will howl and scare off all the enemies that surround you. You can spam this ability and beat on enemies at will. You can pretty much take on a whole army of bandits without taking a single hit if you time it right.

I plan on modding both forms depending on if I can get what I'm looking for.

For werewolf I think that wolves and other werewolves should leave you alone when in human form too and not just when you are in werewolf form.
The bonus to HP should be halved but present in both forms. HP regen shouldn't stop but instead be bumped up to be on par with that of trolls.
Certain strengths and weaknesses that are not present.

For vampirism, feeding should be needed to stay strong, not stay weak but can be a daywalker.
The weakness to sunlight should always be present but....
After reversing the stages as far as benefits go, going outside during the day removes the bonuses and buffs of vampirism during stage 1. Only beyond that do you start taking damage (so going 24+ hours without feeding).
Going without feeding will reduce your buffs and increase your weaknesses. Feeding returns you to full strength buff/power wise and, while not eliminating weaknesses, returns them to normal.
Going without feeding will make you 'shriveled' in a sense and so your ability to go unrecognized works per normal.

Vampire, vampire, vampire for me. It fits the play style of character I let be embraced and will never have cured (sneaky magic using duelist! A true aristocrat of the night - refined, arrogant, self assured and oh so deadly - has a hobby of tasting the blood from all the most important characters in the game while they sleep) as Vampirism really supports sneaky characters and I like the added touch to the character.

That and I usually favor sentient undead (when well done) over werewolvers. I just like being a vampire.

Oh, and I guess the most important part - there is actual effort involved in it, it affects how you play. Having to feed regularly and the affect of the sun and all that means different challenges, faults - I like the RPing.

Of course the implementation isn't perfect - mainly I think, due to the fact you can only feed on a sleeping character it is.... bah! It is weird and so unvampiric. There should be some vampiric finishing move against guys like bandits - you get the move, you grab them and chow down.

The other - lack of vampire quests. The one thing my vampire hungers for even more than blood.

Werewolf. I like being able to go out into the sun.

You can go out in the sun as a vampire, you just weaken (very Bram Stoker's Dracula)

biasd poll is biasd what about those of us who want to be weresharks or werevultures? i want to be a werevulture personaly

I hope to one day see a Lich and Werebere transformation available.

None. Give me lich or go away.

Yes, I want lichdom to be an option one day so bad.

Agreed, Vampire requires some dedication to be. Nota whole lot, but like AwesomeDwarf says, it changes how you play. You will be going out of your way a lot to keep fed. I prefer Werewolf/Lycans myself. So much cooler to me. But its just my opinion, if you prefer to be a fang wielding blood drinker of the night, go for it! My advice for you though, save before you accept either curse/gift and see if you like it first. Good luck! I think it would have been awesome if Vampires also had a major transformation like the Werewolves. Maybe something like out of the Van Helsing movie?

Personally I don't feel the need for it (unless it was due to different vampire clans or something) - personally I'd be happy just being able to turn into a wolf or mist or something (though it might not fit in with ES Vampire Lore - but then again I am a Skyrim vamp and I can't lurk under the ice and drag people to a watery death so...).

I wouldn't mind the ability to develop more of a vampire face or something as well (if you pushed to become a stronger vamp for exxample) - what troubled me in Morrowind was this: it pretty much had the best vampire quests and clans of the series. Ever since being a vampire is just an add on, like a new set of armor. But in Morrowind being a vampire was effectively the end of the game till you got cured - regardless of how I dressed. Not a sliver of skin could be visible yet everyone knew I was a vampire on sight and wanted me dead.

I've also wondered... why do vampires grow stronger the more starved they are?

They are also more monstrous to people the less they actively going around drinking from them.

There are some other vampire settings were it could draw influence from.

Dracula at least looked more alive and human when he drank blood (and so do many vampires in fiction). In the WOD setting blood fuels the vampires powers, so without it they can't use them (effectively they are weaker) but their internal "beast" hungers for it. The longer the go without blood the hungrier they get and the greater the risk of frenzy (basically going berserk-er insane for a time - which is powerful in its own right).

Perhaps blood keeps the vampire monster in check, without it it rises to the surface - hence you appear like a monster to people but you get a significant boost at the same time, because you've vamped out (hulked out).

On the other hand maybe there is a deadra out there laughing at the irony of it. No moral vampire from you - you want to stay human and be a functioning member of society? Guess what, you'll drink. Regularly. You want to be everything a vampire can? We, you can never sup on blood. Bwahahahah.

I finally decided: I'd rather have minimal downsides than be a vampire, especially for my main "tank" character. The howls and lack of negative effects make it all worth while. Even though I like rping as a vampire, I suppose the health and stamina bonuses are worth it as there are no negative chores to deal with, not that it's a terrible thing as it adds to the immersive feel of being a vampire.
It would be nice if you could drink from the recently deceased. That way we don't have to play stealth every time we want to chow down...not that there's anything bad about it. It's actually a clever style for a vampire, but said style shouldn't be forced. Here's how I look at it...

Sane------------------------------------------Some middle ground---------------------------------------------------------------------Insane
Powerful, Calm, Collective-------------------Weakest, but not lacking some form of power----------------------------------Powerful, Savage, Bloodthirsty

Like in the game, the less you drink the more powerful you become in your desperation. Unlike the game, you should gain power from drinking blood. So technically the weakest vampires would drink regularly, while the stronger ones are mad with bloodlust or drinking plenty.

Perhaps those who drink a lot will have more manipulative power and stealth while those with bloodlust will have stronger magnitudes of more aggressive spells? That's all up in the air.

Both are poor implementations, though Werewolf is slightly less lame in that they actually tied some quests to it, even though they are mostly guild quests.

Overall, for all the content they can boast about in skyrim, the were and vamp content is ultra thin.

I don't like either option.

I can't use magic as one of those disgusting feral beasts, and vampires in Skyrim are terrible.

I voted Vampire.

However, my vote is based upon a future mod that will fix vampires and make them cool. The mod I will use will do something like this:

-New vampires have 100% weakness to fire and 50% cold resistance. No other powers until unlocked. After about 1-2 weeks of being vampire the player will have random encounters with paladins, priests and/or Vigilants of Stendar.

-All vampires, regardless of stage, take 8 damage/sec. from sunlight. Any vampire power used in sunlight increases sun damage 2x for duration of power.

-New perk tree. Stage 1 through 4 vampirism are perks that need to be unlocked to become available, but are activated by feed frequency(with prerequisites for stage 1 being sneak skill based, stage 2 being illusion skill based, stage 3 being block based, stage 4 being alteration based). Extra perks could be: Blood Hunter(at stage 3+ your vampire sight also detects life). Celerity(once/day for 60 seconds sprint speed increased 3x). Adrenal Blood(Your Feeding finishing provides blood full of adrenaline. Granting a +25 boost to stamina and will fill your stamina bar).

-Reverse the feeding rule. less feeding=weakens character. Not feeding after certain time=death. Stage 4 vampirism attained by feeding alot in set amount of time. Can maintain stage 4 for 24 hrs. only. Stage 4 cooldown of a day or so. Feeding more frequently will increase chance of being found by paladins.

-Stage incremental powers. Stage 1: Vamp. sight. 25% sneak bonus. 75% weakness to fire. Stage 2: Glamour power(calm type spell so char. can feed on awake, non-hostile victims). 50% weakness to fire. Stage 3: Feeding finishing.(When in combat, mob low on health and does the one-knee thing...can feed to finish them off). 25% weakness to fire. Stage 4: Feral Claws once/day(Transform hands to claws for 180 seconds that have vampire life drain effect and do decent gameplay balaced damage). Still 25% weakness to fire.

Just some ideas for what a mod should do for vampires. Similar mod should be made for Lycanthropes, but I will start work on vampire mod when tools come out. I've got some mod experience, hopefully the creation kit is something I can use well enough for these changes.

If I could, I would be a Werepyre. However, you can't do that, so Werewolf.

Even better would be Were-dragon.

Even Even better would be a Draco-Werepyre.

AE reference anyone?

Yeah I so knew what you were doing. I rarely play it anymore, but I do have a level 113 character on adventurequest, and a darkovia mansion with really high z-token sellback value.

I'm already a werewolf and the only two problems I see with it is that people attack you if change during the daylight and you can't access your character menu when in that form if your running low on HP. Sometimes there aren't enough people to keep you fed so it kinda svcks :(
