I can even play as a Batman-esqe character, if I want to. Or a giant Orc with a battleaxe and spiked armor.

Or, hell, I can play as a blacksmith, if I wanted to.

I know. Brilliant, right? Definitely not for everyone, not even me, but it's wonderful that the game offers you that freedom.

if you put buff potions (like+40%destro damage) inside a companions inventory will he use it right away?

I never really dabbled much with companions as I never needed them, but it does sound fun.

Some Companions can even make potions themselves.

Nope. Nor will they use Health Potions you give them.

To bad we've a gimped spell system as well or else you could play as a pure support character healing and buffing your companion.

Good insight on Skyrim's roleplaying possibilities. Just so you know, when you buy a mercenary he is automatically leveled on you. So if you level up too much from alchemy he will become weak due to the leveling system of enemies, and you Will have to find another.

hmm...would be interesting to have a healer/summoner/alchemist with no direct combat. Hmm time to test drive a 3rd toon

I haven't used any companions yet, but for my next character I'm considering a healer/protector type character who only kills when he must, using hired muscle to do the dirty work, healing/protecting the companion and using illusion and alteration magic to disrupt but not directly harm the enemy. Should be interesting!

Sure you can be a herb picking Alchemist who relies on ONE person for protection.

but does the game care? :D

Skyrim; the game where you can be an herb picking alchemist who relies solely on a mercenary for protection. GOTY!!!!!

Hey, that sounds like me! Sort of. I summon a Frost Atronach, and have Lydia and Stray Dog do all the work, while I loot bodies, chests, cabinets, and cupboards. It's great.
