Realistic damage Mod

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:21 am

Hi, I'm a longtime fan of oblivion, buying it ages ago on 360, but I recently got it on PC, and saw a chance to fix the one thing that has always bugged me, the damage.
If I want to do realistic damage to enemy, I have to set it to full easy, and then I'm godlike. If I want a decent challenge, I have to set it to medium, but then it takes like 50 swings to kill anything decent.

I've tried what realisitc damage mods I could find like FighterPilot's one: http://planeteldersc....Detail&id=4561 but it didnt do it for me, it still took ages to kill anything on normal difficulty.

What I think could work, is simply dividing the health of EVERYTHING (including the player) by 10.

So, is there such a mod? If not could anyone point me towards a way of making it? A tutorial guide somewhere or something? How hard would it be? Can anyone think of a better/easier way of doing it? I'm not really very good at programming, but I made a Mass Effect 2 realistic damage mod with INI editing, and a warhammer dawn of war RD mod with Corsix.

Many thanks to anyone who helps, I dont mind doing work if I could be told how. Cheers.

ANother mod that makes the game more realistic is Duke Patrick's Melee Combat - it takes some time adjusting to, as you will usually get killed by a well timed swing from a lowly goblin if his momentum and timing were impeccable. Much different than vanilla.

Oh man, I so want it, it looks like exactly what i asked for! But when i downloaded it and tried to use it, it only applied to me! Now I'm being slaughtered by the NPCs, but I'm not doing any extra damage to them! Arrrgh!

I'm using francescos, MMM Midas magic, natural enviroments, harvest flora, living economy, drop lit torches and Deadly reflex 6. Could any of these be the reason i am not doing the extra damage? I have put PPP at the bottom (overides all) of my load order, so I dont see why it wouldnt work... arrgh I need it! Pls help!

Or perhaps you could point me to the official thread for this? I will continue to search on my end. Thanks a lot for pointing this out to me btw :)

My first guess would be that you don't have http://obse.silverlock.org/ installed. It's a requirement for most gameplay tweaking mods.

And after you get that, replace Living Economy with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25078. :)

Edit: Then again, you're using Deadly Reflex. Is that working correctly? If so, OBSE's probably fine. Maybe your difficulty slider is turned up?

I have OBSE installed, I got it for deadly reflex. My difficulty slider is right in the middle (default) and I checked it with the mod deactivated and the difficulty slider in the same place. It is definitely not affecting me, only modding the npcs.

The living econmy is part of francescos. Does any of that shed any light?

OK I uninstalled MMM and now it seems to wrok if I set the damage multiplier to 5, but only work for npcs if I set it higher. And odly it doesnt work for npc vs npc. It also doesnt work for deadly reflex horse combat, although I'll try moving the esps around.

But although there are some dissapointments, and some... very odd things, overall this was a great find, and its MOSTLY working great!

Thankyou very much for pointing it out to me, and thankyou to whoever made it if he ever reads this You rock, woohoo!

Wow! I didn't realise how similar Phitt's and your mod is to mine, Tejon.

Jafroboy, if you can't get Phitt's to work, you can try my Attribute-based and skills-based damage modifiers mod:
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23062

It only modifies damages and doesn't have the other features that Phitt's have.

+1

It really is the only realistic take on damage. Extremely complex under the hood. Variable weapon damage rates, altered damage formula, and increased combat AI for NPCs. The damage is also offset by making block the most valuable skill to develop with the character and use as the player.

Based on real life combat methods and using that as a base for its creation instead of a blanket upping of damage via Phitt or an attribute based scaling of damage via Kuertee. No dis meant for Phitt and Kuertee, but Duke's mod is reality based.

Do these mods all work with deadly reflex?

Which mods?

You are going to have to go over the readmes of these mods.

I'd say no with Duke Patrick and possible with Phitt or Kuertee - depending on whether you take damage scaling with DR.
