Any Oblivion weapon/armor modelers left?

See topic title.

Now that Skyrim's released, and given that I haven't had much success asking here before, I'm guessing that the answer is a resounding "NO". But, thought I would try one more time anyway :)

The current version of WEPON is not the final intended release. Since Day 1, we have had additional plans for it. In roughly descending order of priority (and awesomeness):
  • Add the Lost Daedric Shrine of Jyggalag, and with it a mechanism that will allow upgrading of existing equipment when infused with different gemstones - provided Jyggy likes you. (In progress)
  • Add to the above mechanism a chance to acquire the ultimate equipment set: CHAOS, an amalgamation of Daedric, Madness, and Amber. (These weapons are set up in the ESP file but we don't have any models to use!)
  • Add subtle hints to the game world about how to find the Easter Egg weapon, and upgrade its design.
  • Add other additional (lore-friendly) weapon and armor sets: I've looked for quite a while for complete Adamantium or Stalhrim sets but no luck yet.
  • Create brand new meshes (models) for the Orcish and Mithril weapons, rather than using recycled Vanilla meshes like we do now.

I will be glad to do what work I can - which pretty much are limited to the ESP file and scripting. If anyone has interest in creating new weapons and/or armor - Chaos, Adamantium, Stalhrim, Orcish, or Mithril - please let me know by posting here. (If you have even a passing interest, please post here...we'll talk later about the time commitment required!)

Oh c'mon InsanitySorrow, you pump out a new set of equipment at least once a week!
Just kidding. Yes, my experience with the previous WEPON modelers (Spiney, kriscrash, LordFrostcrag) makes me realize I vastly underappreciated their work. Granted, adding 625 weapons into the Construction Set manually, one at a time, writing new scripts, doing the lip synching, etc... that took quite a while, but it takes a rare talent to be able to mesh AND texture weapons or armor quickly.

I was hoping to find a set of equipment that was already completed--that is, a set that has all 6 armor pieces (Cuirass, Greaves, Boots, Gauntlets, Helmet, Shield) and all 10 basic weapons (Bow, Arrows, Dagger, Shortsword, Longsword, Claymore, Mace, Warhammer, War Axe, Battle Axe) that could be integrated into WEPON. But I've not been able to find a complete set anywhere which fits the design and isn't already widely used.

Ah well, maybe I'll just have to do the Jyggalag Shrine bit and call it finished.

speaking as a mod user who doesn't know a thing about making good models/textures, i'd be delighted to have a new shrine to visit and a chaos class of weapons to use, even if they happen to look just like daedric, or some other vanilla type. Do what you can, even if you don't have the art resources, y'know? I, for one, will take what I can get. :D

Well hey, there's one vote at least! I'll see what I can do about Jyggy's shrine and the Chaos weapons (which will have to look suspiciously like Daedric ones) first. Maybe after that's released, and some awesome weapon designer has gotten tired of Skyrim (assuming that's even possible), we'll get to realize the final planned version of WEPON.

Of course, the original design called for the player to play Battle Chess against Jyggalag to win the right to upgrade their weapons or armor. I had it all planned out - Knights of Order, Obelisks of Order, etc. on one side; Golden Saints, Dark Seducers, and various SI critters on the other; all of them obeying the player's or Jyggalag's every whim...it seemed appropriate for a Daedric Prince and an Ascended Prince to use other characters as pawns. Sadly, that's well beyond my scripting abilities.

Another vote for doing whatever you can. ^_^ Wasn't there talk of using the Sotonhorian set for something? Seems the best bet for something complete.

Battle Chess, scripting a full blown chess game is probably too much for anyone. How about just a chess puzzle? Jyggalag shows you an on-going game and you have a chance to make a move for a check mate. Or make a move to avoid check mate. Stuff like that, maybe you can get ideas from http://www.chessproblems.com/.

I may still end up doing that, actually. I have permission to do so (I think, need to check my emails), but several players emailed me saying they didn't think it would be a good fit for WEPON. But even if I add Sothorian with its heavy armor, I'll need to find a complementary (and vanilla-compliant) light armor set to go with it. Hmm...

I'll have to look into that, thanks. I could handle something like that :)
It might even steer the mod in a completely different direction - maybe the Prince of Madness would have to solve some of the Prince of Order's logic problems--chess, sudoku, etc.--before gaining the right to upgrade weapons?

Believe it or not, I am fairly close to having all the needed components for a full-blown Battle Chess mod. Another modder has already completed a Battle Chess board, complete with Shivering Isles and other creatures, but abandoned the project when they realized the complexity of programming the AI opponent. I secured permission from the author of the Houdini chess AI opponent to use his AI in an Oblivion mod, meaning no need to program an AI, if I could figure out how to integrate Houdini with Oblivion. Unfortunately, that integration would require the writing of an OBSE plugin and programming in C++/C#, which I don't have time to teach myself right now.
Anyone else feel like taking a shot? I would be eternally grateful :hubbahubba:

Might be a good idea to post up any concepts/sketches you have, modelers would be able to get a better idea on how much time/effort it'd take to get stuff done.

To be honest, I didn't progress much past the idea stage when I realized an OBSE plugin was needed. That said, I'll see what I can do about posting a fleshed-out idea here in the next few days :)
