Money Making Tips

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:38 pm

Apart from getting coin for quest rewards, any tips out there for making loads of cash?

1) Whats the easiest? I hear chopping woods fairly decent.

2) What gives the biggest rewards? Making and selling enchanted objects?

Thanx

Just play the game and sell everything you don't need. Dont't forget to let Lydia carry your burdens.

I have 30k in gold with me and i have never really bored into MAKING MONEY. I just played the game.
Basically every once in a while i spend all my ingredients making potions, them i sell everything i dont need. I also sell the misc stuff and the foods. Mage robes are also good for money.

And thats all, i keep every enchanted weapon that i find in my house on whiterun.

Other than selling dungeon loot, alchemy and enchanting are both good money makers. There are some potions that are worth a good bit of coin, especially if you get some perks or gear to make them stronger.

I also like to fill up a bunch of petty and lesser soul gems and enchant iron daggers (for me it was the ones I had already made to level smithing). Depending on the enchantment, there's good coin to be made there too.

Weight to value ratio is the best. The lower the weight and the higher the value the better the profit. So jewelry is a great example while ancient nord armor is crap

If you play the game and keep an eye on the cash / weight ratio as you pick things up (going back to towns when full) you'll make money pretty quickly. Remember too that if you are far away from a town being overburdened and trudging back will mean you will get less cash for your time compared to dropping the less profitable things and getting back out into the field faster.

Remember too that as you level you'll generally find better stuff, and in doing so make more money for the weight you haul back to town.

Alchemy seems to be the easiest, I fast travel to about three or four Alchemists and buy all their ingredients, which costs perhaps under 3k, and then I make all of the most expensive potions that I can, then just use everything up, and suddenly I have about 15ks worth of potions and poisons in return.

In all seriousness just play the game and sell the stuff you don't need, grinding for money is not fun and cheating is not fun so just play the game.

Well if you think about it you don't really need money anyway. starting just sell the stuff you can find, and look at the weight cash ratio thing that someone said up there. you might wanna stock up on petty soul gems, When u get soul trap start trapping the souls of every single bugger you meet (if possible) and use them to enchant WEAPONS, weapons give the most increase in gold when enchanted compared to armor.

Best advice. I find collecting money in Skyrim to be much easier than either of the previous two games. Just be patient.

If you just really want to make money quickly, find an item that banishes Daedra back to Oblivion, and disenchant it to get the Banish enchantment. Then just use a bunch of petty soul gems to enchant iron daggers; they sell for about 700 apiece and you can increase your smithing and enchantment skills while you're at it.

That said, I never did that, since just picking up the things with the best weight:value ratio and selling them made me plenty of money, and now I have like 80k and nothing to spend it on.

If I need some quick money I just go around the map to clear some giant camps. They drop some nice money, items and there's usually a chest around.

Spoiler
Giant's Toe + Wheat can be turned into a potion with a value of around 2700g or higher at 100 alchemy skill.
