Everything is missing!

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:16 pm

So I just installed Supreme Magika, OBSE and Wrye bash.

After a couple of tweaks I was able to run oblivion from obse.

The problem is, when Ii start a new game, after the intro, the whole worlds is missing! The emperor and friends fell to a bottomless world, while Ii was just there, slowly falling.

I also have OOO.

I turned OOO into .esm because the plugin SM_OOO needs OOO to be a master plugin. Also I turned DLC Shivering isles into .esm.

Load order:

Oblivion.esm[SI]
DLCShiveringisles.esm
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm
Living Economy -items.esp
Knights.esp
SupremeMagicka.esp
SM_ShiveringIsles.esp
SM_SgilStone.esp
SM_Scrolls.esp
SM_EnchantStaff.esp
SM_OOO.esp

Help!

Err...does it work if you don't do this?

...

I don't get what you mean by turning stuff into .esm. OOO already comes with both an .esp and .esm, why do you need to do whatever you did? As for SI, did you mean you turned the original DLCShiveringIsles.esp into an .esm? That's just a dummy plugin used to load the bsa files... Revert the mods to their original states and see whether that fixes your problem... Can't fathom what else could be wrong if that doesn't work, seeing as you have such a minimal mods list.

No. Oblivion won't start at all. SM_OOO needs OOO to be a master plugin.

Yeah but that's just the thing. OOO already has an .esm on top of the .esp(s). So it would appear you're missing files from OOO, did you only install the 1.34b file without installing 1.33 first perhaps?

Oh and for the record, your SI BSA's won't be read by the game at all when DLCShiveringIsles is an esm rather than esp

I guess you use 'copy to esm' or 'ESMify Self', but forgot to use 'ESPify Self'.
Anyway, you should install OOO.esm and OOO.esp instead of changing OOO.esp to OOO.esm.

Weird. The first time I used Wrye, it only listed OOO as an .esp

How do I get the.esm? Download it again?

Sounds like the case... OOO is a huge overhaul and has several .esp's on top of the .esm, so it sounds like you could be missing quite a bit.

Oblivion can run without the SM_OOO compatibility patch.

What does it do anyway? Just adjust the enchantment prices?

You NEED the OOO esm.

Is it helpful to post back and not say you fixed what several others pointed out was wrong?

It is 100% a method of getting people to not help. so did you get all of OOO installed or not?

No point in going on about anything else until that is fixed.

OOO should have had the esm and esp in the same install package. Maybe you got this overhaul from some torrent or unsupported compilation?

ESM files contain new records and things not in Oblivion.esm ... the esp contains placement and implementation of those records and those of Oblivion.esm.

The SM patch - detailed in SM readme.

Never rename esp or esm files, not even the name of the file, bad things will happen.

The only time you ever need to mess with the suffix, .esm or .esp is when you temporarily change them to make an esp dependent on another esp and that's only when you're modding complex things yourself.

I learned the hard way :P

Unless you're making a mod in the construction set. But then, you need to remember to change things back immediately afterward. Because an unwritten law requires that you will forget what you did within an hour of doing it.

Grab the great utility, Wrye Bash. It makes it very simple to ESPify and ESMify, but not easy enough that you can do it without thinking.
