Qs about assinssin gameplay

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:03 pm

Yes there's a typo in the title:

so here they are.

Archery: Does the place where the arrow hit has any effect on the damage it causes? I.E: Does a "headshot" have any bonus damage? (No arrow-to-the-knee jokes guys, pls)

Sneak: Does my sneak skill increase whenever I'm moving in sneak mode or just when there's someone around? If I go sneaking from city A to city B will my skill increase during the whole trip or just when there's someone around to actually sneak by?

Backstab: Do power attacks break sneak or do they stack with the 6X multiplier of backstab perk?

Dead bodies: Do dead bodies alert other NPCs? Do I have to hide them?

Well I guess thats all.

Archery: No, it's all the same damage (but sometimes it does feel like certain areas take more)

Sneak: Only when people are nearby

Backstab: Power attacks in my experience only break sneak when I miss terribly and fall into some plates and dishes off to the side

Dead Bodies: Patrolling units sometimes check a body and become alert, but not always (usually you'll have killed them by then)

I'll take a stab (haha, oh man).

Archery - not sure of placement, but I'm fairly sure a headshot does more damage.

Sneak - only increases when you're around something. I believe you can sneak around your own summons, so I'm also not clear if it needs to be an enemy. It was my first skill up to 100 so I didn't even have time to know/care. A big bonus to sneak skill is sneak kills level up the skill. Every time you sneak up on someone you and execute, you get a sneak bonus. Easy to max out.

Backstab - No, you can power attack away and get the 6x or (much better if you're that close) 15x (and should be 30x with the right gear). If you can sneak up on it, you should be OHK'ing it. If you miss on your power attack, be ready to get a counter attack to the face.

Dead - So far as I can tell, no one cares about bodies. Even if you sneak kill an NPC sitting across the table from another, if you're undetected, the body, the blood, nothing will tip them off. MSG2 this is not.

Well I guess thats all.

Archery: No, like Oblivion, there is no locational damage.

Sneak: It only increases when someone's around.

Backstab: You usually get detected when the target doesn't die. But with the Assassin's Blade perk (15x damage with dagger sneak attacks), that's not a problem except for the strongest targets.

Dead Bodies: They are aware of them, but it's not much better than Oblivion. They just say "I'm going to find who did this." They don't actively try to find you, it's just like if you got in their line of sight while sneaking. However, they also say "Must have been my imagination" after you put an arrow through their friend's throat. It really depends on how well you can remain undetected after a kill.

Sneak increases whenever you're actually being a sneaky little sneak. Sneak attack a guard? Increase. Hiding in a corner while a guard walks by? Increase. Crouching in hidden status near a sleeping NPC for long enough? Increase.

I use power attacks on every dagger backstab and it never breaks sneak - unless I happen to have forward momentum and I inadvertently touch the target just before striking. Stand still before you trigger the power attack.

Archery: No locational damage. A shot through the knee does the same as a shot through the eye.
Sneak: Only when people are around.
Backstab: They stack for extra damage and do not break sneak; however, be wary of the fact that some power attacks cause your character to dash forward. If you bump into an enemy before you hit them, they'll notice. Sneak power attacks are excellent at killing Draugr before they get up.
Dead bodies: Usually, no. Guards will check out dead bodies, and if you murder someone in the middle of a city without being detected, the guards will enter an alert state and will arrest you if they see you unless you lay low for a while.

Most people have explained most things, so I wont repeat what they've said. But sneak attack bonuses can stack technically. I've had power attacks mess up a sneak due to the noise you make or its slight lunge foreward alerting people. Though, with 2 daggers, 15x and the gloves, you can do 60x damage which should be able to kill just about anything. I've oneshot a Dwarven Centurion Master with +9 frost glass daggers at 40 one handed.
