Question about Crysis 2 and laptop gaming

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:43 pm

I just bought a new laptop and was wondering what the your opinions are on playing Crysis 2. I know a desktop is FAR better for gaming but I just don't have the space so that's out of the question. Will this run Crysis 2? Also, on a side note, future games, like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, with tolerable FPS? I've always had a desktop so I'm completely new to laptop gaming. While I still have time to return it, I'd like to know if this will last me for these and Next Generation games. Thanks guys.

Sony Vaio VPCF236FM, Intel Core i7-2670QM 2.2Ghz (Quad Core)
Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium
Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with 1GB dedicated RAM
9GB System RAM
Full HD 1080P Display

your CPU and GPU are ok

however there's a problem with your ram, with only 9GB you can't really max the game

perphaps with some tweaks you might get it running on lowest settings with that amount of RAM

Perphaps you can upgrade to 18GB or 24GB, that should provide you with stable performance

i've heard that BF3 even lags with 18GB and for maxing you need 32GB

Dude u mad.Or ur really that clueless about gaming.9GB of ram is more than enough for any game.24GB to max out bf3 seriously WTF!!.

@op Man your gpu is not that powerful at all.It can play latest games at low setting but definitely not in FULL HD res.For gaming stick to ur PC.Laptops are meant for web browsing and angry birds only.xD.Just joking!

I think the guy before you was more on Par with his take on my GPU. I turned nvidia 3d settings to "quality" first and foremost. with 1.9 patch installed, all graphics options in-game to "very high", 1280x720 res and get a constant 40 FPs. Before downing someone's comment, do some more research. Thanks anyway.

actually, no. He was bashing him for his retarded comment about the amount of RAM you need. The most important aspects are the CPU and GPU. RAM stopped being a bottleneck... years ago. 9GB is overkill for any game. 32GB for BF3? Roflmao.

@XRufio84X

You'll be find with that set up. I game 100% on my notebook for the same reason (lack of space). I rarely run into games that I can't max out of play at high settings with 1920X1200p res.

My specs:
Alienware M17x
Intel Duo Core 2.8ghz
GTX 260M SLI
4Gs of Ram

Typically I only run into issues when games require quad core CPUs but you should be good there.

Did you even read my comment?Or like him you are also retarded.I obviously bashed him becoz of his take on the amount of ram needed to game.Wait let me guess you didn't like my comment becoz i said your gpu is not strong enough and you liked that guys comment becoz he said the opposite. If you guys can't take criticism, why the hell you guys even post in forums asking for opinions.

And i said your gpu was not strong becoz i thought you will game at 1080P RES.Even 9800gt can max out all games if you play at **** 720p res.ROFL

Wow, seems like you have some anger problems my friend. what's with you calling me retarded? My cousin in mentally challenged smart one! Think before you speak. I take full offense to that. And I wasn't even coming across enough like a "jerk" to merit that response you just gave me. I AGREE that Mastergiux comment on RAM was ridiculous but that's no reason to come off like you have to him or myself. I was merely pointing out that you didn't check on my GPU's specs, added with my system specs, to form a proper response...other than, "Man your gpu is not that powerful at all". Consistent 30 FPS with Very High settings on 1280x720? Ya, um, not even close to the results i would have expected if I actually took your oh so incredible "expertise" into consideration.

The-Gurhm

What's going on. Thank's for the response. I agree that my specs were fine and appreciate the feedback. Like I said at the beginning of the thread. I'm new to notebook gaming. Lol, I ended up exchanging the notebook anyway. I found a great deal online for an Asus.

My Specs now:
Asus G74Sx
Intel i7 Quad Core 2.0 Ghz
Nvidia Ge Force GTX 560M with 3GB Dedicated Video RAM
12 GB System RAM

I was ALMOST going to get the Alienware M17xR3. Alienware is amazing quality. :D
