The Soul Cairn is a realm of tombs where the undead seemingly roam free and invulnerable to any harm. Rather than being aligned to any Daedric prince, it is controlled by a race calling itself the Ideal Masters.

Is there any lore on this and is it mentioned in games prior to Morrowind?

A mysterious master race in vast control of Invulnerable Undead. I assume this explains how Undead were summonable Oblivion.

Could someone enlighten me on what information is available about this subject. Specifically the Ideal masters.

A lot of Daggerfalls Lore seems to be thrown out, ignored or tossed around (Saviors Hide being crafted by Malacath, then it becomes Hircines Hide for example) so I was wondering if this might be something from that game and whether or not there could be a possibility of seeing these "Ideal Masters" ever showing up in a game.

I've never even heard of that before. Wish UESP editors would cite sources more often.

Yeah I can't seem to find a source for it. UESP users whims? They are usually pretty good about the lore though.

I am guessing if it is legit it is from some obscure book or from one of the older games. I was looking up Sanguine's realm(rather more like thousands of realms) then scrolled down and saw it. Seemed very interesting but there seems to be nothing else there on it.
