Recruiting Veronica?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:32 pm

I did not recruit Veronica Santangelo the first time I talked to her, even though I did not talk badly about Brotherhood of Steel. Now, when I am currently trying to recruit Veronica, she only says that "couldn't get enough talking to me". Thus, the only response I get from her is one line of dialogue to which I can only reply 'Goodbye'. I have dismissed other followers while trying to recruit her. Still, I have now completed Still in The Dark and I am liked by the Brotherhood of Steel.

Furthermore, it is impossible for me to load back previous savegame since I have progressed way too far. I read http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Veronica_Santangelo and http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/I_Could_Make_You_Care, but they did not suggest any method to solve my problem.

So, how can I recruit her back as a companion? Perhaps, is there a console command to reset Veronica's introductory dialogue? I am playing the game on a PC.

Thank you very much for your help.

When you first meet Veronica, if you talk to her you have to recruit her or that's it, she won't follow you. You could just recruit her, then tell her to leave and you can recruit her again later for her quests. It sounds like you're screwed now though.

As far as console commands go, I haven't a clue about that since I play on a PS3.

Guys, some help here please. Is there any way I can do to reset the introductory dialogue of Veronica? It is kind of a cruel blow to me being unable to recruit her, since the option of recruiting her is given just once in the game.

Thanks.

Are you on PC? If so there is a command which should reset it.

That is correct. I am playing the game on PC. That is why I need to seek the proper advice from your guys, on which exact command to use. I really do not want to screw up my savegame. Thanks.

I've looked through a couple of console lists and I can't find one that resets or recruits a companion. Did you notice if you failed a quest after speaking to her the first time? If so resetting the quest might help (can't find the command for that either).

No, there is no indication that a quest is failed at that point. When I talked to her for the first time, I had several ongoing unrelated missions. I wrongly thought that recruiting her at that point may cause bugs in other missions. Boy, it was a huge mistake. I should not talk to her, until I am ready to begin her companion quest.

I am not sure about this command. Are you suggesting that not even "console command set "145f85".ngreetingpending to 1" can solve my problem?

No, I'm just saying I couldn't find a command, looks like you might have done though, well done if it works. If it does you should post it to the wiki because there's a couple of posts reporting the same problem and no one has a solution.
