All this talk of the differences between sci-fi and fan-fi is kinda rediculous. To people(not me) who dont like either -think they are indistinguishable. They are twins in the family of fiction. Remeber Arthur C. Clarks (Celebrated Sci-Fi Author) 3 Laws :-

1)When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right; when he states that something is impossible, he is probably wrong.

2)The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

3)Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Isaac Asimov Wrote collections of Sci-fi stories and called the series Magic. Fallout has the same foundation as many Fantasy foundations. Take Terry Brooks Shannara series - its all based on events following the apocolypse on Earth. Sci-Fi IS Fantasy. Plasma Guns used to be considered MAGIC. Also just because you dont believe the evidence of the existence of ghosts, doesnt mean they dont. Many people still dont believe The theory of Man/Evolution. Creationists (i.e. Millions (if not Billions) of people still beieve in THAT kind of Magic.

And Finally theres not much difference between Roddenberry's Vulcans and Tolkein's High Elves.

Except Fallout SCIENCE! is never meant to be such. It fact, many Sci-Fi base on(invented) it own set of Law of Physics.

Oblivion is also part of the Fantasy settings which avoid to make up mechanism for its magic, i.e. it isn't within the realm of Clark Sci-fi/Fantasy.

Like I said, while there is contemporary fantasy would contain and often mix the Fantasy and Sci-fi, Fallout however is not one of them. While Sci-fi and Fantasy may be twins, but it doesn't mean they are the same thing.

That's just a Lovecraft easter egg, there was a whole village as one in Oblivion :D

Speaking of Ghost People, with their gasmasks and jumping around they remind me of http://soc.stalker-game.com/?page=snork from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. a bit.

Yes and they are tough like snorks too. Snorks are degraded by the zone humans that have armor. Their leaping and creeping is quite similar. Snorks hit quite a bit harder though.

1.NOT ghosts.
2.I don't believe in magic or ghosts and I play Elder Scrolls d'you know why? It's because the entire game isn't based around Ghosts and Magic is it?Also it's set in a fantasy realm obviously bethesda can bend the rules of the world as they please.
Anyway downloaded Dead Money today it's awesome!

U wouldn't happen to be playing your pc games on a Mac as well would you?

and out of a technicality ghosts do exist just not in a way we would think of them.

Ghost Stars are basically stars we can see with super powerful telescopes that are far away in the galaxy. Now by the time the light gets to earth, depending on how many light years away it is, we could see a lush green planet full of life on the far outer edge of the galaxy. However in reality that planet could already be several thousand years older and could have had all life on it wiped out but were seeing the planet as lush and green because the light hasn't reached us yet Making it a "Ghost Star"

You know, if I were to clean this thread up so it could stay open, there would be almost no thread left. There's simply too much spam, too many insults, and emote-usage in lieu of articulated thoughts here. Time for a lock.
