Calling the game broken is just overdoing it, it works fine for most people.

if the magic resistance was totally gone forever and never fixed, that would leave the game broken for a lot of people, it would be like if armor didn't work, thats broken, so as it is with the current patch, the game is broken.i had to start over cause after i put in the patch it made my saves unplayable after i removed the patch so its a big deal until its actually fixed for a lot of people, maybe not a tank type avatar, but for a mage character its a huge deal that makes the game kinda no fun to play, especially considering the game was working pretty solid for a lot of us, not too many complaints other than some quest bugs or compion problems like with illia, not being able to rehire her, but other than that the game worked flawlessly for me, no lag to speak of ever, very solid for me on the x box, then the patch comes and bam, problem city. so its a big deal.

Good thing they acknowledge this. January is a month away though :(

Rebalance sounds good but I wish they also added some branching to dialogue and quests. Longer guild questlines wouldnt hurt either but thats probably hoping too much. Modders will probably do that.

I appreciate the info, Bethesda. It's nice to hear about the workshop and CK, but my concern about the patch info is that the only specific issues mentioned were ones caused by the latest patch. I'm fine with some bugs, and grateful for the fixes that are coming, but would loved to have heard ANYTHING OFFICIAL about the LAA issues that 64bit OS users are having running the game.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

YO DAWG WE HEARD YOU LIKE PATCHES, SO WE GOT A PATCH FOR YOUR PATCH SO YOU CAN PATCH WHILE YOU PATCH

That's how ridiculous the situation has been since a long time ago, with unofficial patches and fixes made by modders. This time, however, I sense a change for the better.

Continued Game Updates – (...)

After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.

One thing that got me to believe someone in Bethesda Softworks read http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1273149-modders-or-bethesda-to-fix-game-bugs/ is the incremental patching. Is this the fist time they are going to have long term support for their game? I really hope so.

That also can hint about how much tied up their past patch releases were to other platforms QA. At least now we know the PC patch releases are separate from the consoles. Lets wait and see, although it is already a good sign.

It's an honest and caring message. (...) Acknowledgement of the problem (...)

I agree. The message is conveyed in a very honest tone. Like I said, I can only hope to see long-term game support come through and polish Skyrim for the better. Both game-players (customers) and game-makers (modders included) win.

This is the horrible mentality that perpetuates this kind of "release incomplete software, then release patches much later that break the game further...haha we already got your money and you don't care because we are a name brand" behaviour.

With this last public statement from Bethesda, that idea is history.

The important thing is that Skyrim is going to be the first Bethesda game that will get long-term continuous support (unless I misunderstood, please someone correct me).

How do you know their testing svcks? Did you test for them? Do you develop games yourself? Of course not. You're just a troll.

All games are released with bugs, why would skyrim be an exception?

Do you? Of course not. You're just a troll.

Indeed, all games have some bugs that slip by QA - but there are limits to what customers will put up with. Constantly repeating the obvious is unhelpful to all parties (Bethesda, the customers and fanbois). You do your own ilk a disservice when you praise and staunchly defend a product that has serious flaws. Most of us truly enjoy Skyrim, its a wonderful game. I still haven't got over the excitement I felt at decrypt - But I'm also a customer that demands a certain level of reasonable quality and timely support. It's great that Bethesda has ended their "admit nothing" policy, but now that communication has been restored they need to keep up that rapport with the community (this will serve to reduce much of the negativism, all people want is information and updates on progress) and focus on releasing quality patches in a reasonable time-frame. These demands aren't harsh or oppressive, they're reasonable expectations towards a company that has sold us a product with some serious flaws.

Exactly what I was thinking. I assume this integration with Steam is what is holding things up. :verymad: Overall going to be a very bad idea integrating the mod tools into Steam like this, especially if as with TF2 they introduce money into the equation. The potential is there for this to completely wreck the mod community.

Or maybe they want to clean up some of the issues plaguing the game engine first.
