Alas, i may have cracked into the economy code

Well, we all know about the promises of how certain actions may affect the economy. Well now that ive dumped 200 hours into the game, and i've change the way i've played since i first began I think i'm onto to something here.

Well, i'm playing an Orc right now. I am not using the stones to level up faster so i'm leveling up at a much slower rate which is a real good thing. I'm also, focusing on blacksmith, two handed weapons, and heavy armor. I play on master with no fast travel besides public trans.

Anyway, i say this cause playing like this makes the game way more fun as well as making it move along a lot slower which gives me a chance to get a closer look at how things are developing and moving. I make money mainly by hunting and mining for ore, then turning these mats into equipenment to either sale or equip my 4 followers from the Orc strongholds.

Now, as an orc you have access to Orc strongholds. There are 4 strongholds: 2 have Orish Ore, 1 has ebony and the other doesnt have any. Now, i'm a black smith that mainly harvest all my own goods unless i need to buy something. I have depleted all three mines. However, they do respawn. Not sure how long, but i've depleted them twice. Now that my blacksmith has gotten higher i need more Orish ignots to upgrade my armor as well as 4 followers armorer.

Theres a problem however, theres NONE to be had in ALL of skyrim -_-

You see, at these mines at Orcs strongholds you can harvest the Ore and keep it for your own use, or you can sell it to the strongholds Blacksmith.

From all Orish Ore i used to make armor and weapons for 4 follower, i mainly used it with the mats from the mines. When i would interact with a NPC selling Orish ignots, it was around 150 gold per bar and they had like 10 to 15 for sale and i remember thinking if it wasnt for the mines and me being an Orc i couldnt produce this much equipement.

Well, and now it happens, i get a nice par of Orish Gatlents that needs upgrading, so i go to the mines for some more Orish Ore it hasnt respawed yet. So i go to 7 or so different blacksmiths and NOT ONE OF THEM HAS ANY IN STOCK....

IMHO, this has to be tied to the fact i depleted the Orish mines because those ignots were as common as dirt until i cleaned out the mines.

This then got me thinking, the only way to notice these kinds of things is if you playing slow and methodically. And if its true with mines, think of what else this may be true for. I'm thinking selling firewood may mean more arrows that vendours sell, or more food that you harvest means more or less at the vendor, depends if you keep or sell it. Well theres my story yall.

I think the stocks are randomly generated because I once bought an alteration helmet of a smith and then had to reload and brought up his inventory again and it was brand new :/

If you have to play a certain way in order for the game to feel fun then it's not very fun to begin with now is it?

A great game should be fun even if your doing something stupid and pointless.

Ok food is pointless because you dont need it. Have too look at that to see if it changes prices overall if there is a shortage or a mass amount of food in a town. I remember that i killed a farmers family at a mill and it is deserted since then but i never looked close on the prices in the city ... i have too much gold to care. But if it is like you said if you deplete something prices rise maybe a mod can make this in fact a little more of an impact on the game. No scaled weapons or armor until enough materials for that weapons are in the world .. that would be nice.. Imagine you mine all ebony ore and no one has ebony weapons until it respawns and the enemies are getting tougher

Off topic and spoiler alert. You do know Orcish armor is free right? Just have a good look around in one of those camps, I'm sure you'll find something ;-)

maybe, however, i went to all the blacksmiths in skyrim, or all the ones i knew of, and not one person had it. Orish ignots or ore are or was as common as iron. It was one of those things that was ALWAYS in stock.

Did you gain levels in the meantime? The NPC's may simply have moved up to the next tier of ore.

If gathering items in the world and selling/keeping them truly affects the market, it's great news, modders could go crazy with that mechanic.

Well, food is not pointless, not if your getting by like i am. I got a theif/assassin with 120 hours in him and when your rich like that its cool but gets boring pretty fast. With my Orc not power leveling, that makes 90% of money from being a worker, that is, mining, blacksmithing, hunting, gathering foods and chopping wood the game is so much better. I cant even afford potions now. I have to live off of foods i cook or buy to keep going in fights. Potions i get are the ones i find. I cant loot but the smallest things during big fights. I only get arrows, gold and potions. I usully only have enough space to get the goddies out of one main chest after a boss fight. If you play this game as a survial game it is heads over heels better then becoming all powerful. And everytime i leave a city after a fight i'm usually broke. My bad ass two hand hammer i got from an Orc quest drinks up soul gems like water, So after buying food and gems, as well as a few other things i'm always leaving twon broke.

And to the person who says this inst fun cause the game itself isnt fun, pffff, why do you people still come around here just to rag on skyrim. This community is better off without you.

nope, the next tier isnt even availble yet, hopefully its not cause i depleted the ebony mine either lol, but every ingot that was there, is still there. I've been at the same level for awhile now, so i know for a fact its not cause of that.
