So has anyone found these destroyable buildings?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 2:54 am

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing something about there being buildings in the game that were destructable. Has anyone found them? Because they said they were supposed to be pretty rare. Or was Todd pulling a Peter Molyneaux again?

He was asked this question, I believe a e3, and said that there aren't going to be any destructible building. If there were I'm sure they would've had to add a major chunck to the game engine making it possible.

Not sure if it was just fan speculation but I'm pretty sure I heard something about this.

Yea, I don't consider being able to tear through some cobwebs a destructible environment. :P

Yes, I found them. They're to the left of the high resolution textures (right behind the PC mouse/keyboard interface.)

"M'aiq doesn't know why one would want to destroy a building. It takes time to make it. Much time."

Sandbox game with destroyable buildings? That would be Red Faction: Guerrilla. Fun game. :D

The design of Skyrim and the nature of the engines Bethesda has been using for a while make destroyable buildings next to impossible.

It could be cool. Except that I'd inevitably end up destroying a building that I actually needed later. :(

anyone know if there is anything that "gets destroyed over time" eg -> at the start of the game you visit x and later in the game (a few game days) dragons have destroyed the place.

sorta the reverse to the farm you could help build in oblivion that grew and built itself after doing a quest or two. -> also anyone seen anything like that?

He never stated the player can destroy buildings, he said they do sometimes get destroyed...the first instance starts in 5 minutes of the game starting ;p. he did say you could sabotage Mills, (nope) that arrows were rare before that (nope) that you could effect prices/there is an economy (nope). basically nothing you do effects the game world. again ;p

I'd go a step further and say that I remember Pete Hines saying that there were no destructible buildings.

There are a couple things in whiterun that got destroyed during the quest to defend it from the storm cloaks. No big structures damaged just some of the banisters and archways. Not sure if it's random or scripted tho
