that's the undertone of this post, so don't get it twisted. I'm not gonna name drop, because A) its not necessary, B ) it defeats the purpose
Do you remember when games had to be perfect? There was no internet patching, there was no "fix it later" mentality?
basically every other platform went through VIGOROUS phases of testing, at multiple levels of development.
Brotherhood of Steel in direct reference, "couldn't be crashed by anyone whom tried..." lambastes a Current Bethesda Employee whom will not be named. He has worked on both Skyrim, New Vegas, and Fallout 3, as well as Fallout 2, Fallout Brotherhood of Steel tactics, and the original Fallout.
"What they care about has simply changed from making a standout game to returning good numbers for their stockholders"
he continues
"it pisses me off, a game I worked on shipped with KNOWN GAMEBREAKING BUGS, long documented in the database...(he goes on) this is my career, my resume, realistically if I have to switch careers or look for another home within my field, I must explain my past...this is really frustrating from both a gaming and a business perspective..."
moments later
"...It's not just on us as the developers whom are to blame, litigious disrespects abound during development, the possibility of breaching contracts and financial sanctions hang over street dated media now like the guillotine..."
Furthermore,
"...we submitted BOS to console cert with a pre-gold build and they still COULD NOT CRASH IT, we had over 300 testers, NONE OF THEM EVER FOUND a way to consistently crash that engine..."
Thanks Scotch, it has given us a better look inside gamesas with more candor and honesty than I think we will ever get. And as far as working fixes go, as well as developing new patches....well I personally wouldn't put any money on that, good sir above is actually on paid leave till mid january, and he was the crux of coding and engine build, so good luck with that.
I for one am disgusted. Shame be upon you.
