I want to smuggle a gun into the casinos

SMGs cannot be holdout weapons.

Sawed-off shotguns can be holdout weapons though. Even without 50 Sneak, I think. Big Boomer isn't, though.

hmm... pretty sure they can be. It has been forever since I have gone to a casino though.

If you have 50 barter you can have him give it to you when you to during the quest Talent Pool, given at the Aces Theatre in the Tops Casino. It has 42 damage when you meet the gun requirement. I use the Mysterious Magnum over A light Shining in Darkness because they hold the same amount of ammo but the magnum is stronger.

Have a look at Pistols here:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_weapons

There are weapons you can take in with no sneak, but they are not great in the pistol department. I like 'love and hate' myself and yes, 'The Light Shinning' is very fine.

Jenn, A Light Shining in Darkness is a unique available after completion of the DLC Honest Hearts. It is the weapon Joshua Graham carries but
Spoiler
you get it with a bunch of other unique goodies in a footlocker near the exit to the Mojave once you finish the dlc

Disclaimer: I'm certain that on one of my characters it showed up as a holdout weapon, and I recall others here discussing it also, but I checked the GECK and it does not show as an improved holdout weapon on the form list. Perhaps there's some other way to include it on the holdout list since it's a DLC weapon? As it stands, I am only reasonalby certain it's a holdout. Anyone want to confirm?

Also, I believe there's a way to steal the Mysterious Magnum if your character would do that type of thing. I think what you do is first steal all his ammo. He should unequip the magnum then and it will be in his inventory for you to steal. Be advised, he has a pretty high perception, 7, so you better ge a pretty good sneak to steal from him.

To get it, you need to have the DLC Honest Hearts, then complete it and you will get it somewhere, dunno for sure I don't have the DLC. More Info: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/A_Light_Shining_in_Darkness

Also, about the Mysterious Magnum, if I'm not mistaken, you can just pickpocket it from the Lonesome Drifter, no need to kill him, or if you are playing a 100% good character, get the Comprehension perk, raise your barter a little more, to 30, or 40 with no Comprehension, and use http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Salesman_Weekly when you are about to talk to him again.

Edit: Got ninja'ed :ninja: lol.

A Light Shingin in Darkness is by far the best holdout pistol available. Of course that's my own opinion, but it's backed by the millions of poeple in my head.

Same here Gunny. I cary both the regular .45 and ALSID for a few reasons a) I have pack rat so their respective weights are halved, b)ALSID is my heavy lifter/ceremonial pistol (benny always gets a hollowpoint) while the standard .45 is for when I need to go dark.

As the Dos Equis guy would say "I dont always like to make a lot of noise. But when I do I perfer A Light Shining in the darkness... Stay ammo'd up my friends"

Uuumm, maybe they nerfed something in one of the patches but....
Spoiler
no one ever searched my dog. Sorry, it's been quite a while since I played and I don't remember his name. I don't think I was runnnnin any mods for him either. I'm sorry if I'm wrong. But I was packin some serious heat in the casinos.

Thanks.....
I tried to get a 12.7 pistol with 40 dam but it would not sneak pass the guard.
So I got my old friend Lucky with 30 dam passed the guard ..... oh well it will have to do.
Thanks a lot for the help my friends.....

Well now I have a chance to make it out alive against those white gloves guys.

A Light Shining in Darkness. That thing is a little pintsize powerhouse.
