Scattered around the world are what look like large cages - circular with a roof on them - and they appear to have a switch inside them. I've probably seen 4 of them at this point. Any idea what they are?

I saw one of these too. There seemed to be no way of interacting with it, even if it was to say "unavailable" or "needs a key" or something. I wonder if they're future DLC placeholders.

Yes - forgot to mention that you can't open/unlock the doors - not even a message when you scroll over the gates themselves. Tried using "Unrelenting Force" from all angles, hoping that would flip the switch, to no effect.

I think your talking about the dwemer ruins lift shafts. Its normally a exit point and you open them from the inside.

So there should be a ruin nearby? I was thinking I found one on top of a glacier with no ruin in sight (way north), but I'll go back and check. Thanks for the lead!

They are elevators

It doesnt need to be nearby. I think theres one on a totally diffrent mountainside from the main entrance. Theres usually big underground caverns etc. They are pretty awesome if you've not seen them yet
