WTH is up with the Alikiri guys

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:58 am

Me and my brother have been wondering this. He plays it on xbox and the same thing happens on my PC. After I kill Kamatu for the redguard woman quest. Two alkiri warriors appear near the entrance to whiterun and persist throughout the game. They do nothing but say things as I walk by, like "can i help you" Whats up with these guys?

Yeah I hate them standing there after the quest. I eventually just consoled them out of existance "disable" as I figured it was a glitch.

You shouldve turned in Seeda or whatever her name is. She is a criminal and thanks to her alot of people were killed. You were fooled by a pretty face

This makes it seem like it's actually intentional. The Redguards come looking for the girl, so they send those mercenaries to find her. They eventually get killed without reporting back (if you choose to do it that way) so more Redguards are sent to find her. If the girl is found, the Redguards have no reason to be in Whiterun anymore, so they leave.

YES! Seriously she should have been made a marriage prospect after that quest (if you sided with her of course).

Spoiler
I figured if I side with her, I keep a pretty girl in the tavern. If I don't, then they all disappear. Not much of a choice really. Well, except dealing with these two lost bounty hunters.

I believe it's intentional, to show that they're still pursuing her, also you see them walking around at some points (or duplicates of them) questioning random red guard women while looking for her.

Yet even after you complete the quest, you don't know the truth. Pretty faces don't always hide guilt even if some people try to convince you they do.

There really is no way of actually knowing who is lying in this quest. At least, none that I know of.

Spoiler
If they really wanted to assassinate her they probably wouldn't bother listening to the guards telling them to stay out of the city.

Its easy, the lore in between Oblivion and Skyrim, makes it obvious.

As well as the fact that she called them assassins, when they don't even harm her.

They didn't. That's why one got captured. They may be assassins, but they are not good assassins.

Well she certainly seems/acts like a criminal. I mean, Kematu even gives you the option to talk it out, when he thinks he can kill you right then and there. The Alikiri guys seem like good people, when they interrupt a Redguard woman on the outskirts of a town they dont get harsh/violent but merely annoying. Their story is much more valid than "they are assassins and want to kill me", if they really were assassins why would they be asking permission to enter the town in the first place

The dominion pulled out of Hammerfell, hell the alikr even helped rid the land of them, why would they help capture someone who "spoke out against the dominion"? after 21 years?

Why else would she still be in Skyrim? if she were innocent afterall?

Perhaps she is telling the truth and the Aldmeri are doing a behind the scenes attack on the houses of Hammerfell, but it seems unlikely.

The weird thing for me was that when I entered town (as a Redguard female), it never occured to them that I could be the person they were looking for.

Eh, dunno if that's a bug or not. I was wandering around once after completing the Companion quest line and came upon a group of 'em being attacked by a Sabrecat. They walked off after the fight.

There's a big bug in this quest, which I'll blame on lazy programming:

Spoiler
The redguards tell you to go to Rorikstead and inform them of the girl's location. If you do this, and totally skip Smuggler's Cave, they tell you to tell her to meet them at the stables, etc. That all works out fine, with Kematu waiting to meet you at the stables, paralyzes the girl and tells you so long I'm going back to Hammerfell. But if you then go back to the Smuggler's Cave Kematu and the gang are in there! You even kill them if you want and take their precious curved swords.

Or maybe they are just a band of mercs and not skilled assassins, thus they can't sneak into the town and the one who tries even gets captured and, astonishingly, is left to rot in there by the others who even told him basically "you snooze, you lose". Quite the fellowship right there.

No, I doubt they are are assassins, but I do believe they are just a band of cutthroats, whether or not they work for bad guys as well as good guys doesn't make them good people.

Also, in the cave, they just saw you slicing through a score of bandits. Maybe it would be a good idea to avoid fighting you, if possible ? Hell, even offer some gold and some sweet lies. Quite interesting that he paralyzes her before she can speak.

It may be bad to be fooled by a pretty face, but it's equally bad to be fooled by a sweet tongue.
