Jus a liiiiiitle gripe

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:42 pm

I really love this game but there is ONE thing that makes we want to rip people's heads off and throw them in a fire

The [censored] voices of the daedra lords!
I mean, I know they're supposed to sound otherwordly, but I didn't know "otherwordly" was the same as "someone speaking in a can, made louder"

The actual problem I have with it is that, I play with headphones, and usually, if I remove them with the game still running, I don't hear anything from the game anymore. But when the daedra lords speak... I can remove the headphones and EVERYONE in the whole house knows EXACTLY what theyre saying. I'll let you guess how good that can be on the ears when you actually have your headphones on them. IT HURTS!

Anyone else thinking that?

No, I don't have the same problem, since I don't have headphones.

And I think their voices are badass!

Heheheh.

I'm fine with them. A bit loud, yeah, but not nearly so much for me ... maybe because I use a sound equalisation program ...

I love the voice acting for some of them. (Not most- I haven't gotten to most of them yet, to be able to judge.) They're some of the best VOs in the game.

Oh don't get me wrong. the voices themselves are perfectly fine, I love their tone (especially Molag Bal). My problem is simply with the way their voices are mixed, and the effects given to their sound

I agree that they're a bit loud, but not so bad that I need to remove my headphones.

Slight DB Spoiler :)
Spoiler

Night Mother, though...ack! my ears! Her voice is fine, but the volume is insane.

I can't say I've experienced that same problem, but most of the voices are fine. Clavicus Vile was teeth grindingly annoying though.

Can't say I've thought about that. I'm using http://www2.razerzone.com/Megalodon/, I can't wear any other headphones or use any other speakers anymore. I did think the game's voices in general were too low, so I turned everything else down in the settings menu to hear what people were saying. Maybe the Daedra voices are registered as sound effects, not voices? Makes sense since there's nobody actually speaking. Since I turned down sound effects that could explain it.

Ehhhh I thought they were pretty overacted... Like really, really overacted actually... In such a huge game I know you can't expect everything to be perfect, but I can totally agree with this particular gripe.

Even Azura... Poor, poor Azura....

I thought that was kind of the point of them? Aren't these the old, 'dead' gods? Of course they want to ham it up- they miss the old prestige and drama that their station used to afford them. Wouldn't you want to pretend you're still a billionaire after your company sinks and you can no longer afford the friends, fame and fortune that came with that position?

I love them :whistling: just the way they are :whistling: ...
