How would you roleplay an imperial zealot?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:15 pm

Namely, how would you react to, say, the Talos worshipper in Whiterun, the Circle, and openly pro-Stormcloak individuals? Would you smite them on the spot? What would be your reason for clearing dungeons and caves instead of focusing on locating and imprisoning stormcloak soldiers?

You need to be powerful to kill even more Stormcloaks! Also... After you finished the Civil War, you may want to kill the Bandits within Imperial Lands.

An Imperial you say?
The same way you'd RP a Frenchman. Yield and surrender to everything that moves, and give up everything you hold dear!

Yes, it's a joke, no it's not serious :P

To my knowledge, the Empire isn't hellbent on eradicating Talos worship, that's the Aldmeri Dominion and their Thalmor. The Empire got their butts handed to them and surrendered, so they have to go along with the banning of Talos worship 'officially', but seem to 'unofficially' look the other way when they see it. I think the Empire is just trying to bide their time while they wait for an opportune time mount a counterstrike.

As for the zealot, I would RP him/her to attack any Stormcloak on site (though you'll run into unkillable NPCs due to them being 'required' for the Civil War quests). Their stance on Talos worship would be completely up to how they view the Empire, the White Gold Concordant, and their view/stance on the Aldmeri/Thalmor.

As far as I can tell, the Imperials are only pretending not to worship Talos, it's the Thalmor that react to Talos worshipers since the Altmer can't stand the idea of praying to a "mere human", despite the fact that Talos isn't the only mortal to have reached godhood, Mannimarco did it too (not to be confused with the King of Worms). So even a zealot imperial wouldn't react the the blatant worship of Talos in whiterun, unless the Thalmor was behind his back and only to bide his time until the next war between the empire and the Thalmor. The storm cloaks he'd hate with a passion on the otherhand, they risk weakening the empire and spreading racial hatred and bigotry all across Skyrim.

How would you roleplay an imperial zealot?

1. Walk through every city and settlement, remove my gauntlets and pimp-slap every Nord and Nord supporter.
2. Hope to the gods that the Thalmor saw me do it so they will continue to allow me to live.
3. I am, after all, just a puppet actually in charge of nothing. But they left me in power so I must be important and needed.

Right?
*meh* spineless, gutless submissionists.

Just sayin :whistling:

wear imperial armor and use imperial sword
attack all stormcloaks on sight with EXTREME PREJUDICE
only become thane of a town with a jarl that supports the legion.
no side, main, or guild quest until civil war is over.
only buy from empire friendly vendors
dont kill stormcloak supporters, but dont interact with them.
no dungeon diving until after civil war.

My Orc is known as a fearless and reckless warrior for the Empire, that loves the front lines of war. He was ordered to serve under general Tulius to cripple the rebellion in Skyrim and tip the scales in favor of the Empire, but due to a miscommunication with the Imperial Legion in Skyrim, they were never properly informed of his status. He was stripped of his gold, possessions and almost his life because of that mistake but going back now would be dishonorable for his proud Orc family of great warriors.

He's been given orders and that's the only thing that matters. He has to start from scratch by gaining the trust of the Legion in Skyrim and work his way from the bottom. He noticed how ill-equipped they are so he does a lot of independent work as a mercenary, to gather the funds and equipment he needs to fuel this war campaign. Since this may take longer than he initially expected, he also plans to gather enough gold to buy a property, ideally in Soliture for logistic reasons.

This Orc's greatest motivation in in proving his strength by defeating his enemies with honor. Even though he's not interested in politics, he believes in the importance to uphold the White-Gold Concordant, only because this buys time for the Empire to bounce back from its losses and ultimately destroy the Aldmeri Dominion. Rebellions within the Empire and infighting only makes it weaker and ensures absolute control for the Aldmeri Dominion. Rebels are misguided fools that are hurting the Empire and even themselves with their selfish actions.

He will join the Companions, since he feels most at home with them. He's not a thief, nor an assassin. He's not interested in harming anyone that he doesn't recognize as a worthy opponent. There's no honor in killing the weak or the unaware. He also doesn't care for magic, he believes that little tricks are for the frail and the old, resorting to them is a weakness. He ignores all religion and will only enforce the prohibition to worship Talos in extreme circumstances if he feels the White-Gold Concordant is at stake. Otherwise, he does not care. He will complete his orders by defeating the rebels and bring honor to his family.

Maybe you can get some ideas out of this

This is almost exactly what I was going to say. Although I'd get heavy armor gauntlets the perk to do armor in damage and enchant them with +unarmed. Then just randomly punch people who support the stormcloaks.

Edit: and don't forget to always submit to the guards when you get in trouble.

My character was an imperial zealot. An imperial veteran survivor of the battle of red ring.

Talos worship doesn't bother me, as long as they keep it out of the way of those filthy elves. I was brought up worshipping Talos, and I still pay lip service in secret.

Stormcloaks however, are the worst kind of stupidty that make Nords what they are, pathetic rebels rallying around the cry of a leader who would sooner gut them if it meant gaining a crown. Temporarily too, the empire may not be its strongest now, but do you think the White Gold Concordant would exist if the elves didn't fear imperial might.

It cost us gravely, and without us you'd be altmer servants, you ungrateful wretches. So yes, I'll kill a stormcloak on sight, or the farmer declaring he's off to join them, and no doubt kill my compatriots, who stood in your defence for ages past.

In this land, there are secrets and powers, and I'll be damned if you rebels get your hands on them. You'll enter your caverns, and see nothing but my footprints before you.

We must unify this land under the banner of the empire, recover our strength so that we may face the Elves with fire in our eyes.. not today.. not in my lifetime, but together we will stand as men and this so called dominion will tremble.
