Second Chance

I really hate that you don't get a chance to adjust your character after you make them like you did in Oblivion. I wouldn't mind it THAT much if you could skip the games intro, but as it stands, the intro is REALLY long and you have to sit through the whole thing. What if you make your character, and then when you get in game, you think that you should have slid the weight slider up a bit more? Nope, sorry, gotta start the game over and remake your character just to adjust the weight. They even had the perfect place/opportunity to put the "do you want to change your character?" thing, right at the end of the first dungeon, before you step out into Skyrim. They could probably add it in with a patch or free dlc. What do you guys think?

I'm hoping a mod takes care of this. It is pretty damn annoying especially because I make new characters fairly often.

Its particularly ridiculous considering you can add dirt and war paint to your character's face. >.<

showracemenu works fairly well once you know how to use it without messing any stats, abilities or racial perks, but if you're on console, you're out of luck

showracemenu is much better made in Skyrim than in Oblivion, thus making it alot easier to succesfully mod.

Yeah, I was quite surprised that it wasn't already an option. And I agree with pretty much everything you said.
I hope they simply "fix" this into the game as a feature. We shouldn't have to pay for something that has been in Bethesda's games for the past ~decade. That would be like buying a house that you assumed had windows, and finding out after purchasing it that the windows weren't included.

Also, to those saying that mods and the showracemenu command fix this: What about console users?

There is an autosave right when you get off of the wagon. I picked the race that I did not want and went back to the autosave. It pretty much started where they ask your name, etc...

The problem is, autosaves get over-written and you can't look at yourself in third person until a little while after that.

The game makes a hard save right before character creation. So, unless you save over that, you don't have to sit through the intro again. If I remember correctly, Fallout 3 and Oblivion did this right before the second chance to change your character.

I agree though, I'd like a second chance to change my character; I'd like to not play through the intro again. The problem is that you probably leveled up skills during the intro. Which, is easily fixed with the warning that if you change your race your skills will be reset.

That autosave is before you make your race choice. If a person notices their character in third person outside of the character creation and finds a flaw, they have to reload from that autosave and entirely recreate their character, and then go through the tutorial again.

We should have the ability to edit our characters one more time at the end of the tutorial like we've been able to in previous Bethesda titles.

What prevents you from taking a good long look at your character from all sides before you escape / proceed with the tutorial?

I have done this with all of my characters. Yet, multiple times, I have noticed a feature that I disliked about my character that I had not been able to notice from the limited perspective that the character generation grants you. In-game third-person perspective is different than the character generation third-person perspective.

You can't zoom in on them or get a full 360 view of them.
