MUST have at least 65 Science or you are in big trouble?

Post » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:42 pm

I heard from one of my friends he was very annoyed about how he had to open a locked door for a quest but couldn't because of the high science requirement.

Because of this he basically got stuck. Or so he said... maybe theres another way to do it.

Does the expansion force you to a certain build in order to get through the DLC?

Kind of surprised that Obsidian didn't take non-super scientists into account if thats the case.

That's typical of rpg's. You make choices when building your character and, depending on what you choose, you're going to be locked out of some quests. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

Unless it's a main quest, that's perfectly normal. In some games you can't even get certain quests if you don't meet certain requirements.

But if it's a main quest, there has to be a key or terminal that unlocks it if it's mandatory to unlock that door.

I completed it with a non science character, don't see how you get stuck anywhere, always a second or third solution.

This is what happens when nerds rule the earth, kill each other off, and leave people to fend for themselves. :P Kidding aside, I don't remember anything from the DLC that you shouldn't be able to do, one way or another. Try the spoilers forum for help with the quest if you need. :)

I completed it with a character who could only unlock easy locks and computers with magazines. No problems getting trough it. Except the Cloud + ghost people :D

Guarantee you there's another way and your friend was just too lazy/not good enough at poking through nooks and crannies to find it. :P

If some skill's require not enough, use magazines to boost skills(This is why add stuff in this game). But sadly, they're only temporary.

I am always grateful for the magazines lying on the ground, it helped me with a certain part at the end of the DLC.

if youre level 20 like they suggest theres no good reason to not have science and lockpick to at least 75.

but no, i doubt its mandatory, they wouldnt do that. theres gotta be a key or unlock terminal somewhere

You need to look around. Any higher skill check, lock, hack etc will have another way to do it. You can find a 'programmer's guide' for hopefully 20 points not too far from there as I remember.

I can't imagine being level 20+ without 65+ science.

I never level up science, I don't think I ever once hacked a terminal, I don't even know how. I just focus on lockpicks.

I hardly get science above 50. No real reason for it, there weren't as many terminals as in the Capital Wasteland.
