3rd patch released and Esbern door issue is still there

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:03 am

3rd patch has been released yet i still can't progress in main quest because of this bug.

1) Esbern won't open the door
2) His voice is missing.

Yeah i know there are workarounds involving oblivion mod manager but i don't want to fiddle with 3rd party softwares. It's the duty of Bethesda to fix a quest breaker bug on the MAIN QUEST.
Fix this thing already!!!

Well, most people don't have the problem, so you can see why other issues are higher priority.

Yeah, bugs like this are a travesty and I have run into more than a few of them. I am beginning to wonder if they will ever get fixed in subsequent patches or if this game will just be broken forever. You shouldn't have to mod a game just to fix the bugs in the main storylines that the game shipped with. These errors have greatly reduced my enjoyment of the game. After the initial thrill that lasted a few days it just went straight downhill for me. I can't unpurchase Skyrim but you can be sure Bethesda that I will remember this when TES VI hits the shelves.

I don't think it's a wide-spread bug. I've yet to have it happen to me over several playthroughs on the PC.

This is actually the first time I've heard of it and while I can see how annoying it must be I also think there are more pressing matters.

The patches coming out are to adress specific issues, and there's more coming. For your issue, it's probably much better that you seek a solution on your own rather than wait for a specific fix from bethesda. They're working on "bigger" issues right now.
