Please remove fast travel

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:06 am

Don't you find it that the thing that ruins the experience most when playing FNV, especially on hardcoe, is teleportation aka fast travel?

Sure it is convenient, but damn, it really does ruin the whole experience. It removes all immersion, planning and thinking later on.

I think people are used to it now, but if it wasn't implemented no one would ever miss it, it is just not appropriate for this type of game.

I thought it would have been removed at least for hardcoe mode.

Whats the point? I agree that fast travel can ruin immersion, but then just choose not to use it. Just because its there doesn't mean you have to use it.

Occasionally, I walk to places if I feel like it. But sometimes I just wanna get a quest done in which case I'll use fast travel.

This belongs in FNV forum because it is the best game ever created which means there is no point in playing previous Fallout 3.

Oh dear, I was hoping such idiotic comment like yours won't be made, I thought the logical incoherency and nonsensical nature of such statement was made clear a long time ago...

Why remove a OPTIONAL feature, and therefore deprive other people that WANT to use it in order to save time?
As said before, if you don't like it, just don't use it :)

No, I don't.

I would be truly ticked off if the option was removed.
(I'm ticked now... because they removed access to it if you had crippled limbs in HC. :bonk:)

Please. Point out the logicial incoherency in my perfectly valid statement.

Go on. I'd enjoy a good laugh.

Edit: On second thought, don't even bother, its clear you are attempting to bait people into a flame war, considering the controversial nature of your posts thus far in your own thread.

Can for some I suppose, and so I agree with "just don't use it", but its a shame (for those that don't want to) that it might not be possible not to in all instances.
The games assume its available.

Completely agree. Sometimes I feel like walking creates a better "immersion" feeling for me, but not always. Sometimes I just want to go where I need to go.

Taking 100 hours to do what I could have done in 40 doesn't sound like fun to me. Is anything really added to the game if I walk from Vegas back to the Mojave outpost? No nothing is added just a few random enemies I slaughter in two seconds. I've tried doing the no fast travel thing, it just gets annoying. If I've already walked from the Mojave Outpost to Vegas nothing is added by me walking back that same route. Because of the time it takes to get from one side of the map to the other, Fast Travel BELONGS in this kind of game.

Why remove a OPTIONAL feature, and therefore deprive other people that WANT to use it in order to save time?

Exactly, I don't think I'd play this game as much without fast travel.

I would prefer a car that acts like the Silt Striders in Morrowind. You could park it in a city when you get it or travel with a caravan to a city close to where you want to go but i don't think their should be a fast travel system that allows you to go anywhere without accounting for the walking distance and possible random encounters along the way, bringing back the necessity for the outdoorsman skill.

Don't you agree that hardcoe and convenient teleportation don't go together?

Ah. I see the inability to actually discuss Fast Travel civilly is not limited to the Oblivion Forums.
