Daedra becoming more prominent figures...

***Major spoilers for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim below.***

As we look back through the main plots of The Elder Scrolls games, I've noticed a trend of other gods taking a back seat to the Daedra. At the end of Morrowind, Azura is the one guiding the Nerevarine, and the Tribunal have taken a back seat. In the Tribunal expansion we see the death of two of the Tribunal (or three depending on player choices), and many Dunmer losing their faith in their gods and returning to the Divines or Daedra.

Oblivion seems to be the odd one out, because we see Mehrunes Dagon trounced by Akatosh, but at the same time in the Shivering Isles expansion, we see the champion of cyrodil become Sheogorath... Mixed messages here...

In Skyrim, we do not see the guidance of any one Daedra throughout the main quest, but we do see a major weakening of the Nine Divines, in that Talos is no longer considered one in the eyes of the empire. I have a few questions about what this implies.

Does the outlaw of Talos worship mean that the spirit of Talos is weakened, and therefore the Aedra?

Does the trend of Daedra taking over in times of weakness (Azura in Morrowind, Dagon in Oblivion) mean that we will see more of this interplay in Skryim's expansions? (I would say yes to this one for sure)

Are there any documents in the lore that elaborate on these ideas?

Talos is holding this Kalpa together, every worshipper Talos loses, is a step in the right direction for the Thalmor's plans.
