We all know about the archway near Riften...

Just the other night, I stumbled upon a locked gate (similar to the one near Riften) just Southeast of Falkreath in the mountains of White Pass. You can't get through, but past this gate should presumably lead to the province of Cyrodiil. I love discovering stuff like this and I can just imagine the possibilities of the future.

It's a nice touch. Did Morrowind and Oblivion have something similar where you could see Skyrim, since those games both take place in provinces that border Skyrim? I've never actually played those ones before.

Morrowind no, since you played on Vvardenfell and were surrounded by ocean (although I think one of the expansions might have taken place in Skrim, not sure though).

In Oblivion you could actually traverse the northern mountains and find places where you could look north to Skyrim (and northwest to Hammerfell for that matter), though there wasn't really anythnig to see, just trees, grass, and maybe some mountains.

Is this for an expansion pack yet to come, perhaps? And this is quite a nice touch, although the fact that there is an actual gate between two countries is a bit silly to me... The whole concept reminds me a bit of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw6-aXMBseo :P

Also, @sheepdog: Bloodmoon took place in Solstheim, which is a frozen wasteland and has elements of nord culture in it. :)

It's only logical. I always found it bizarre the Cyrodil, literally the heart of the Empire and so presumably a hub of trade, migration, culture, etc had no roads leading to the other provinces. Very jarring. I'm glad these gates are in, though the fact that they're abandoned is quite sad; they should be populated by guards who won't let you pass because of the civil war or something.

This is incredible! I havent found these gates yet! I think i am going to try and find the one your talking about right now. On another note, does anyone know roughly when the DLC will be released? I was under the impression that it comes out 2 months from skyrims release... am i wrong?

I wish I could give you a more detailed description of precisely where it's at, but you really just have to wander around that area until you find it. There is a road that leads up to it if that helps.

I'm not sure when the first DLC is coming out. I'm excited to see what it will be about though. :)

On 11.11.11 ;)
I made wrong conclusion though, thought it was a hint to an Expansion but was told that there are other gates in other directions.
