I've gone as far as saying this game might be in my top 5 al

So I was on my way to the Labrynth place for the Staff. ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!*** As some who have done this might know, there are Frost Trolls around that area. Anyway, I happened to notice that there was a dragon icon near the Labrynth. So I went up the mountain before going further on the quest. The dragon came out and it was a Blood Dragon....so I ran like a little girl. I raced to the Labrynth door where the quest marker was all the while the dragon was chasing me.

I went inside and noticed the dragons life meter was still there......then I noticed a chunk of it was down.....then another chunk....then another. I went outside to find an ice troll beating the hell out of the Blood Dragon.

Something is totally [censored] up.

While backpeddling, I hit 2 Ice Trolls about 10 or 12 times and killed them. I didn't even put a dent in the Blood Dragon.

The Ice Troll hit me and did enough damage that if he did it 2 or 3 more times I would have to been half health. I was never hit by the Blood Dragon but I'm guessing they hit harder.

In any case.....why is the very thing that is threatening the land of Skyrim getting his ass kicked by a monster that is 1/10 it's size???

I reloaded a save b/c I wanted to make sure it was an Ice Troll that was beating on him and I accidently got the soul.....but this has somewhat jaded me.

I'm all about the experience. So now I'm gonna have to wonder (when I see a dragon) if I'm going to be able to get a good fight or if theres going to be a NPC near by that will just kill him for me.

you're no bigger than a frost troll, and you can kill dragons.

I think Alduin is the big threat, all the other dragons are just minor annoyances.

It is kind of silly, you would imagine a dragon would kill a troll, but its to do with levels. The dragons types change as you level up, blood is the second dragon, Ice trolls stay at a reasonable high level I think. The later dragons would mostly like give ice trolls no chance.

Dragons scale. Trolls start out at around 25. Bound to happen. Unless you want to not kill a single dragon till 70 hours in. Maybe all monsters should e scaled but IMO having certain monsters own you feels right. Dragon fights are har but doable. Certain mob fights at low levels are mean to be level checks/gear checks. It's the way te game was designed. Not a bug

As I said I didn't put a dent in the Blood Dragon.

But if we're going that route, I'm using magic (that heal and do damage) as well as bows, arrows, and big weapons like maces and axes.

The frost troll is using his fist.

If you don't see the ridiculousness....then I don't know how to help you.

@ Katabasis

I didn't say it was a bug....just stupid.

In your opinion it's stupid. It's a good design choice. Reevaluate how you interpret dragons. It's not an alduin, it's not an ancient or elder. It's a frost dragon. Frost. Frost trolls are almost immune I frost an regen. All dragons are not equal.

The reason this happens is because Dragons scale with your level more than other mobs do, because fighting them is mandatory.

Get to high levels, and Dragons will pretty much annihilate everything else. I saw one take out a Giant camp, mammoths and all, without breaking a sweat.

That's it? Here I was expecting you to say something about some of the quests. Being one is killing someone in front of children, lol.

Actually Alduin is the least threat and even minor annoyance.

In both fights against him, you can just sit there and watch. You may want to shout a bit in the first fight to make things quicker but that's it.

The area you were in highly suggest that the blood dragon breathed frost. Frost trolls are immune to frost. Even without that, they regenerate and blood dragons are the second weakest. Trolls are very strong for the level you encounter them, which is why the loading screens say that trolls are the most fearsome monsters in Skyrim.

Until you hit about level 40 where Elders and the occasional Ancient shows up to give you a run for your money

Are you talkign about the level you have to be to encounter them or the level they start off as when you encounter them (regardless of level). I fought two while inside Blackreach today with a level 5 character. I only managed to win because I lead them into a spinning blade trap thank goodness.

I've seen dragons owned by about everything out there, even mud crabs.

The only thing about dragons that makes them hard is their mobility and if you can't avoid the breath weapon.

Once they land, about anything will usually pick them apart.

That is why going through the MQ first will make slaying dragons very easy.
