Hi..

This game is amazing.. Been playing this ever since Fallout 1 came out. :)

Was just wondering about something.. I dont live in the states, so i was wondering, if the actual areas in the game repressent the actual geography IRL? Wouldnt it be awesome if i ever went to Vegas, and i was able to find my way because i have been playing fallout. :D

Yes, the geography is real. I think there is a real Goodsprings too. I'm not that sure, though. Some things may be off though.....about the geo., I mean.
And, you've been playing Fallout New Vegas ever since Fallout 1 came out?

Yes, there is a real place called http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/99/Goodsprings_Nevada_4.jpg/800px-Goodsprings_Nevada_4.jpg

There was even an episode of CSI where they went to Goodsprings to find a dude dead in a barn sitting in a bathtub full of blood...

As with fallout 3 many of the locations are based off of real world places although they are of course much farther apart. Good springs, dinky from novac, of course new vegas, the steve bison and a few others if I'm not mistaken.

As Scar said, the geography is real, but it's more on a 1:3 scale. Of course, if it was real distances, it'd take dayd to get from Goodsprings to Primm on foot, and everywhere else for that matter.

Edit: Some places don't exist IRL, like NoVac, Helios, and REPCONN. (Though Helios and REPCONN ARE based on real places)

Primm is real
Goodsprings is real
Searchlight is real
The crashed B-29 is real
Nellis AFB is real
Las Vegas (New Vegas) is real
Lake Mead is real
The Colorado River is real

A lot of other places are real. Even the highways are there IRL.

The mountains are probally the biggest problem geography wise. The ones with snow.

All the Fallouts have locations based on real places. Sometimes just given different names. Like LA is the Boneyard.

Well, that's not really a different name, that's just a name LA became over time, like New Vegas's born name is Las Vegas. etc

Yes I've seen a load of pictures, not just the geography.
Buildings, signs, a bunch of features have been pretty much imported from rl.

The goodsprings general store sign is one, however they made errors in the word spacings in game.

Well you get the point. The names of real locations changed after the great war but are still real world locations.
