Central block in the Gray quarter

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:14 am

The central block here has only 1 door, so 1 house there, but it's a pretty damn big block, so I went inside to see how big the house was, only to find it was actually very small. Is there any secret other location in this block you can eventually get to or is this just a major scale mistake?

The problem is that it's the opposite of the TARDIS.

Well, as I see it, it is room for more houses. I am planning on doing a simple mod, adding copy-paste houses to all cities and make them more realistic. Whiterun got great amounts of space between the houses, not really realistic. So I'll move about a bit the existing houses in various cities and add more. I also plan to do simple NPCs with names (not villager and farmer and such, I'll generate names) and give them simple dialogue like "Buzz off" and "What do you want?" or "Greetings"
No initiated dialogue, but just greetings on activation.

I just ned some folks to do some voicing and NPC scripting.

I already got a plan over how I'm gonna place some houses in all the major cities.

I think it makes some sense for the developers to leave some empty space in the current cities for use in future DLC.

Even if the DLC is set in a new area, parts of the story may relate back to the current cities, and you need empty space for that.

I often look at that block and think it was the location to actually make the grey quarter look like a bad place to go before it got kicked in the head.

Beth has had no problem just slamming down structures when DLC has been made before (Ob/FO3). this idea of having sites saved just depresses me.

It doesn't make sense to have a city block full of nothing just so you can put in DLC later. All the houses in a town should be implemented in the vanilla game.

I don't think the cities feel unrealistic at all. The Imperial city did, because it's supposedly the capital of the entire empire, and had large houses but very few people. In Skyrim however (I've been to Whiterun, Windhelm and Winterhold thus far, 75 hours), they feel pretty natural IMO. I'm not a big fan of "dummy houses" however where they make the house look huge from the outside, while it's just a few tiny rooms on the inside - that the outside doesn't always correspond to the inside.
