Why no skyforge blunt weapons?!

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:39 pm

I notice there are completely no blunt weapons (mace, 2h warhammer) under the 'skyforge steel' category of weapons.

Is this intended or Bethesda totally forgotten about blunt weapons? Would be nice to have skyforge steel mace and warhammer in games for those who use those weapons.

Yeah, I wondered on this too. Goodbye to my Orc using his Warhammer, I really wanted a Skyforge weapon. Ended up moving my perk through console.

Skyforge is only as good as Orcish though, isn't it? Why is this a big deal? You can get both at a similar level.

I got my Skyforge weapon at level 12 I think. And Orcish weapons look kind of weak.

Because I like the look of steel better and because skyforge is for the COMPANIONS rawr!

Quoting Eorlund Greymane: "The Companions would use nothing but skyforge steel for good reason!"

I also hear skyforge steel weapons increase in stats as you level up.

And an even better reason, you can upgrade skyforge weapons with only ONE feat into blacksmith tree whereas for orcish weapons you need three points. Three points into a tree for just ONE weapon you use is kind of a waste of points.

Has anyone else noticed that you cant upgrade skyforge daggers on the grindstone? I have the perks its not enchanted or magical, I just assumed they wouldn't let you because of back stab damage being insane early on for assassins.

I got my Skyforge sword at 13 I think, had a Dwarven Greatsword at the time, and the skyforge greatsword did like 2 more damage than the dwarven one.. so yeah... far better than Orcish.

Im almost pretty sure skyforge weapons scales in damage along with the player's level. So no orcish weapons are [censored] compared to skyforge steel,

Can this be confirmed? That would be kind of nice to know.

I don't know about your player level, but all weapons scale with your one/two-handed level.

Right now on my thief I have an elven dagger and a skyforge steel dagger that both do 9 damage.

I found this strange too, but if you perk up to barbarian or armsman 5/5 there is little difference in item quality. If you also use smiting you can actually get a weapon damage of 90 on a regular steel warhammer while the daedric have 111. Not a whole lot different, especially if you perk skullcrusher as well.

On PS3 at least, dwarwen weapons do more damage than orcish weapons for some reason, even though the perk for orcish smithing requires more skill levels than the dwarwen smithing. That said, Skyforge steel is better than both dwarven and orcish.

No, they don't scale. They have the same base damage as elven and nord hero weapons.

I was a little disappointed that the final 'gift' of the Skyforge was the ancient Nordic Hero armour and weaponry, for you to craft from scratch. But by the time I unlocked that it was weak compared to all the armour types I'd already unlocked via smithing perks.
