PC users: controller or keyboard / mouse?

All you KM lovers need to realize one thing.

Controllers are more ergonomic.

Considering the context of the game, and going to extreme specifics such as Archery and Spells.
There is nothing that the KM gives over the controller.

This isn't a chaotic FPS where people are zig zagging all over the place, most the time things run straight at you.
You really need the precision of a mouse to shoot at something that is walking in a straight line at you?

You'd have a better chance of getting your KM fanboyism across if this was a different game.

I'm a pretty big person, with big hands.
KM puts creaks in my neck and wrist and back.
The controller does not.

You have to use 3 fingers almost constantly just to perform the action of moving around.
I use just my thumb.

You people are delusional.

And I haven't even gotten to the part where controllers are easier to keep on a horizontal plane of view.
With mouse it's alot of twitching micro adjustments to ensure your vertical view continues to remain at head level etc.
whatever, you get my point. With a mouse when you look left/right, you probably move the mouse somewhat diagonally.

actually they give key binds over controller, which can be marked but not used with a 360 just barely messing with the d-pad.

Movement/placing objects is easier on K/M as well.

So ya its not much but there is benefits of using it.

Controller for me, as I have an xbox as well, so probably got used to it. I find K&M a little too fiddly, but each to his or her own, whatever makes the game more fun for you to play.

How many keybinds?

8...right?

Controller gets the same amount. Not by default, but....do some research.

I have both a wired 360 controller and (believe it or not) a keyboard and mouse. I use the latter.

And no, I don't have any complaints about the UI except the occasional annoyance where clicking one dialogue option gives a different one in a conversation.

I use a controller, but I play on a laptop. I'm often in places where mouse use is limited. I'm almost never at a desk.

What idiot would use a controller on a PC?

Me, thank you

I used to play TES previous games with KBM.
But I decided to give the 360 gamepad a try, and I must admit I was surprised by how it handles well.
So 360 controller is the way to go for me, it's way better to navigate through menus, lockpicking, fighting.
The archery needs a little time to accomodate though.

Using this excellent mod to have 8 hotkeys, autorun, quicksave and load trough the controller :

Hope it helps.

On my PS3, I could only find 2 hotkeys for favorites in Skyrim. Did I miss others? On my K/M, I have 8 hotkeys and QuickSave. Man, I love QuickSave. I can also shoot a bow more accurately on K/M, something I was never able to do on my PS3.

A high end keyboard and mouse is FAR superior to a controller. The precision and control is no comparison.

In BF3, I use kb/m. That game is about always being on your toes. I take this game as "relaxation time". I just bought a xbox 360 controller and I'm enjoying it a bit more. I can lean back and really view the environment (granted with a poo ton of mods) and 3rd person combat feels much more fluid. I might not be as agile or precise as with my mouse, but I'm not playing this game to be the 1337'est dragonborn in skyrim :whistling:
