Dead is Dead (Help)

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:04 pm

Please leave your Dead is Dead Tips here.

I'll start. Don't play your dead is dead character while imbibing in hard liquor. Result: Dead character, and subsequently a new character. I died as a level 2 orc 2 hander to the spider in Bleakfalls Barrow. Ugh. Not good. Should've played my other character.

You can post general tips here as well as places to start questing, places to avoid early on, or strategies to play DiD better.

I'm finding it's a totally different mind-set.

I started playing DiD and completed the main quest with DiD character, now I'm playing more relaxed. I'll do DiD again in the future.

Even tho I know I can reload the game now I still play extra carefully. Old habits die hard I guess.

Use everything you have. Only fight if you can win.

I use all sorts of self imposed rules because I enjoy immersion/realism but I just can't understand how people manage to go so long without dieing. If I was playing DiD my character would have died in bleak falls barrows. After killing the big spider the frickin Elf killed me!

I'm playing a barbarian/wildsman type character with health regen disabled via the console, and limits on what I can carry i.e. 10 potions, 10 food items, 10 ingredients but I'm going to make an exception for flowers etc because they are small, 1 shield, 1 single hand weapon, 1 bow with max 25 arrows, 1 two-hander, only the armour I'm wearing + my casual non-combat clothes, 1 additional weapon or armour peice as "treasure", 10 small misc items, 3 large misc items (like pelts).

The barrows were my first adventure and a nightmare, that last boss killed me three times as I had only 25% health left and no potions and only carrots and raw meat left to eat! But the 4th time I fought him I cut him down with a critical in my second swing.

Always watch your feet in dungeons, you don't want to be instantly killed by a trap.
