PS3 1.3 patch clarifacation (question for Bethesda)

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:38 am

This issue has come up before, but all I've seen are people asking about the performance issues - which are equally important; however, I'd like to know if the general stability fixes include quest fixes, such as: Main quests, guild quests, regular quests? To me this seems like the 2 main issues that need the most urgent attention because they are the backbone of the game really, IMO. I'd prefer a single patch to fix them all, but I know that's not in the works. Would just like to start playing w/o major issues. Also would like to know if I can start playing and then keep playing as it updates?

Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

Is the PS3 patch out?

I don't think so, 360 hasn't gotten it and the consoles usually get them at the same time. I think he's just asking about the patch itself in general.

The patch to work on game data is not out. 1.3 is not that patch, never intended to be. The data patches are coming out later.

However, while I have not all the factions, the Main Quest and Civil War had no issues, and no side quest has given me any issues.

I haven't had any quest issues either. Lag for the most part has been non existant. PS3 does lock up though from time to time (only with Skyrim). I'm a patient man though, Id rather wait for a good patch, than a placebo patch.

Anyway game on! :foodndrink:

These quests may not have presented issues for you, however, excluding the civil war quest-line, I have encountered multiple game-ending bugs with both the main quest-line as well as many side-quest bugs (not all as fatal as main quest or faction quests). The truth of the matter is that this game is somewhat of a pandora's box, in that any number of things could go wrong at any given time, during any situation or quest without limitation. As a result, for a great majority of owners, it is not a question of IF the game will break, but when and how. Almost like a game of Russian Roulette. Eventuality is clear- keep pulling the trigger, eventually you will shoot yourself.

It looks like it'll be some time before I can play then. Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't finish the companions, nor the bards quest lines due to major bugs. The infamous instrument stuck in inventory killed off my bard quest line, and the werewolf camera bug killed off my companions quest line, and anything after the game at that point - the camera bug has the camera zooming into the characters backside (when shifting into a werewolf) and you really can't see past him well (in 3rd person). This camera bug stays even when shifting back to normal form. I've tried restarting the companion quest line several times with the same result...I thought maybe this is what being a werewolf is supposed to be like? But no, I did have the camera act normally one time which told me this was a recurring bug.

Jesus this, Just think 3 more days(maybe more) of this. I AM DRAGONBORN, my only reason for being this is to slay dragons. Yet i find myself avoiding them completely so i dont get one shotted.

Not a great time for it to not work right, I agree lol. Even worse if you plan your character around magic resistance. For me it's the quests breaking that kills the game for me. I get far into it and then nothing. Seeing as the 1.3 wont fix the important issues, but instead other secondary issues that I could live with, I'm SOL for now. Have your quests bugged out on you yet?

Definitely bought the same too early.

My quest haven't bugged, no. Only once did an enemy that was obviously supposed to be a one-time ambush actually respawn in the city, took me by surprise as I was shopping, but it only happened once.

Best thing to do in terms of quests maybe messing up with a glitch/bug is .. for now anyway .. just make 3 manual saves , have 1 as ur constant refreshing save that you overight every time you enter/exit stuff Etc ... then have a 2nd save that you overight once a day before you log off ... then have a 3rd save that you only overight once every 3 to 5 days .......... That way at least you have a good chance of having a save that was from before you picked up the quest item early or whatever ...... & if you have a memory stick you could upload your saves on that once a week for some extra insurance if things go wrong
