So I've been playing in offline mode since I got the game. Steam registered my first seven no problem.

Since then I've gotten nine more.

As there is a patch due out today, I logged on in online mode. I no longer have 16 Achievements, I have 7 again. I went into the game, and I've not lost any information. But the two I clearly remember that show that I do NOT have, though I have them are find 100 locations [I've found 101] and complete 50 misc quests [which I've done, in fact I've completely something like 54].

So I went back offline in hopes that was a glitch. Sadly, no dice.

What the heck happened?

if I find another location, and complete another sidequest, will it re-reigister? Or am I screwed and have to find another 100 locations and complete 50 more [are there even 50 more?] sidequests?

Is it possible to use the console to correct the problem with the missing achievements? [It wouldn't take me long to comb through to find the other seven I don't remember offhand]

I dont get this achievment thing. I couldnt care less. I know you need help and i am sorry i cant but maybe think about how useless the achievments are and maybe relax !

All I know is that you can't add achievements via console, regarding your main problem, steam may come out with a update that fixes achievement issues, such as delayed achievements or your problem. Other than that I don't know.

I appreciate it! I'm not mad, or really upset, just surprised and bewildered. I don't normally give a darn about them, but after earning 16 and losing them, it's a little saddening. Thanks for the kind words though!

Steam achievements don't work in offline mode, that's about everything anyone will tell you.

And no, just discovering a few more locations or doing more side missions won't give them to you either, because they only trigger on the number set for the achievement.

Achievements are a nice neat little way to give you extra goals to extend the life of a game.

Now,Achievement wh0res is another thing. Not talking about you OP,I also like getting Achievements.

But I have a friend on Xbox live that has 186,000 gamerscore........now thats when I would start to worry. This guy literally has almost 1000/1000 on all his games.....its insane. I want to ask him to seek medical help.

Oh geez.... so I'm guessing it's tracking them all weird because I prefer to play in Offline Mode... that's a shame. So I guess there's no fix other than to play in Online Mode [no way in heck I'm starting this character over, I've done 37 hours already] or just ignore the achievements :/

So there's definitely no way of getting them back? I've been playing offline because of this bloody patch, but now 1.3 is released I've gone online again, and all the achievements I got while offline have been lost.

It doesn't bother me too much, but it's a shame. A little annoying that I will never be able to get them all even if I wanted to, because of this fault in Steam.

Same problem here:

I played Skyrim only in Offline Mode and on my brother's pc (I just bought it). I unlocked a lot of the achievements for my brother's account, they are there and remain there, but I do not get them after I transfered the savegame from his PC to mine and loaded it with my Account and my Skyrim copy.

This is the first game, where copying savegames and loading them won't unlock the proper achievements on Steam. (At least in my case)

Maybe Bethesda should check some stuff there...
