Lost valuable one of a kind books to the Bookshelf eating th

Ok, my house in Whiterun was fine pre patch 1.2. Now when I place a book on the shelf, should I hit the limit, a glitch seems to activate, where when you exit the bookshelf menu the books you just placed, not only do they not show up, but the whole shelf then refuses to allow you to activate it further. I left and came back after a few days. I was then able to activate the shelf and place books again. Where did the previously placed books vanish to? I placed more books, only to recieve the limit notification again, then, BOOM, every book was gone from my inventory, but neither placed on the shelf or anywhere else in my home for that matter. The shelf, again, refused to activate after this. I am very unhappy about this, because I lost one of a kind books and I expected it was just a minor glitch and that they'd reappear at some point. I had to revert back to a much earlier save. I really hope they sort this one.

Please tell me if you have noticed this too.

Thanks.

Has been reported before. It's a bug. I, too, had to go back to a previous save (before I bought the house) to get my books back. I don't use it anymore.

I don't like bookshelves anyway. They look OK but putting books in containers keep them alphabetical order and lets you know if you have any duplicates. It's just easier for me to see what I have.

Do the chests keep your items forever? Sometimes the loading screen describes chests but warns items may not be there when you come back. I take it house chests are different.

Yes, all through my 500+ hours of OB and almost 100 hours of Skyrim house chests have never eaten an item.

I've got one bookshelf in my Whiterun house that hasn't "eaten" any books, but won't let me access them. I can hover the cursor over them and it gives me the usual "click to read" message, but it just makes a clicking noise if I do so. Can't activate the bookshelf either.
