SOLUTION - Lost Sound during gameplay

Post » Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:06 am

Symptom:
- After extended periods of play, sound may cut out, however there may be some ambient sounds that remain working.

Solution:
Enable console, and use s_restart to restart the sound

Note:
This has crashed the game completely on me, but several times it has brought back the sound, another time the sound fixed after the next round.
When not restarting sound, the sound stayed broken for multiple maps

sound related commands:
s_restart restarts the sound system
reloadSoundEffects reloads all sound effects
reloadSounds reloads all sounds

Not sure if it matters, but I'm using RealTek on board sound. (RTKVHD64.sys version 6.00.0001.6728)

s_restart = only close brink down and nver come up again, like disconnect
reloadSoundEffects = cheat protected
reloadSounds = cheat protected

Soo nothing of these works!

This is not a good solution, I have already tried this a couple of days ago and the sounds only last for a few seconds before it shuts down again. What you need to understand is that by using this command you are forcing the game to re-detect your sound device and spamming it will result in ending the game's process thus exiting the game.

You will just have to wait for the next patch.

The problem is they havnt even acknowledged the problem in theyr blog yet... This is the single most gamebreaking and annoying issue for me.. a first person shooter without sound is a nightmare.

Note that on the Refuel map, there's a bug causing sound to drop out on that one map. They'll have to patch whatever's causing the problem on that map.

They have acknowledged the issue and have been able to recreate it. They are working on a fix per a dev post on SD's message boards.
