littering?

so I was outside a town. I think it was rorikstead (cant spell it right now but you get the point). I just killed a dragon and looted the corpse. I decided to drop an iron helm to to make room for the bones and what not and this guard got a baddass attitude about it telling me the next time I do that I'm going to jail. So I said "I don't care" I mean really its a piece of junk and he fines me 50 gold or go to jail. Thought it was kind of funny but really?

I left a greatsword laying about and a guard went off at how someone could step on it and hurt themselves and then demanded I pick it up.
I then slowly over-encumbredly trudged over to a barrel and put it in it. I think they only react if it is weaponry and armour.

Drop a weapon, even a pickaxe or woodsman's axe, and you'll get warned.
Had these little dialogues not been implemented, people would surely be on here complaining about the passivity of guards.
On PC, dialogues are easier to mod out than in.

There is simply no end to the difference in personal opinions/preferences.

I dropped Vile's Masque in my house in Markarth, so I could put it on one of the shelves. My housecarl came running up, and said "Can I have it?"

"Hell, no you can't have that."

"Oh. When you dropped it, I got my hopes up."

And yet, when I dropped some armor later, he said nothing. Maybe he was still sulking, I don't know.

I never drop items in public places like town; I was completely unaware that people comment on items dropped. Thats interesting, thanks for sharing everyone. These little things add to the personal gameplay experience for me. I'm hoping to see everything the game has to offer... minus most of the glitches.
