What's realy missing in this game

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:53 pm

Skyrim life is is really good, characters have houses with bedrooms where they sleep, kitchens where they cook, etc...
But something is missing in every city, castle, inn, house, player house: TOILETS
Those people have no needs for those? Inside the houses or somewhere behind houses...

In olden days people just used a bucket or in rich homes a chamber pot. They just dumped the contents out the window onto the streets in large cities like London and Paris.

Skyrim homes are full of buckets and pots, so there you go.

There's at least one bandit cave where there are two what are obviously screened off bucket toilets in one corner.

I see buckets sitting conspicuously near the living areas in almost every bandit site. Do you want a porcelain toilet with a handle and plumbing?

LOL. No what this game is missing is quest depth complexity and choices. Alongside a questing mechanic that lets you finish quests without a magical arrow pointing the way. Quest givers DO NOT give enough information period.

Bigger question...would it get any use if it was there?

I've seen the aforementioned buckets in caves and what not.

I also gave some thought to the mechanic of bodily functions in a video game. I think its best left to life sim games like The Sims.
I think its enough that its implied in Skyrim, though I did wonder about how this would affect the architecture and such, since
so much of a city has to do with plumbing. That said, TES games generally have ridiculously extensive sewer systems, so there you have it.

Would be hilarious to have someone throw a bucket of feces on your adventurer though.
I think these things would be best left for a hardcoe mode mod (eating/sleeping/wounds/etc.).

I could nitpick even more and ask how do Nords clean their teeth. I'm guessing the probably don't. Although some people may use twigs and chew the ends of them to make them bristley and scrub the food out of their teeth that way.
