Marriage and divorce

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:54 pm

So I married the elf chick from the mage college. Now she is cool in all but if they ever patch the game I want to marry lydia. Is there a way to divorce? I do not want to kill my wife! lol

Nope.
The game doesn't have divorce, and if your spouse dies, you can't re-marry.

No divorce, no remarrying after your spouse has died, no gay marriage... you're quite behind the times Bethesda!

only way is to kill your wife and use the console command to change the marriage-quest status and resurrect her.

Pretty sure there was a post that said a male married a male; same with females

So, yeah.

I caught my wife sneaking an elf into my house. I killed them both, then realized I couldn't remarry. So I re-loaded and killed the elf, but let my wife live.

My wife is annoying as sin, but having that extra shop in town helps me get rid of things.

Actually, is appears to be perfectly possible to have male/male or female/female marriage :)

Good to know but how is it that Bethesda didn't implement re-marriage or divorce?

You are talking about a company that makes dragons fly BACKWARDS after a patch... :whistling:
I think the reason is the same though; just a simply oversight...

I would like to do this but I do not want to kill my husband.. Must I ?

DivorceEdit

Since divorce is not actually an option in Skyrim, you can do the following if you are not happy with your choice of marriage. (PC)

* Kill your spouse (better if you do it while staying in your house, to avoid bounty)

* Enter console command Setstage RelationshipMarriage 10

* Use console commands resurrect on your ex-spouse (and eventually use command setrelationshiprank player 4 on him/her to keep the relationship status obtained with the npc related quests)

I regretably married Ysolda in Whiterun not knowing that you couldn't divorce and now I want to marry Aela the Huntress. I've been looking online for any options to be able to divorce her. At first I saw "Oh all you have to do is kill your wife and then a courier will come telling you that she is dead and you will be able to remarry." So I tried that and no courier came. Then I read that you need to kill her and use some console commands. They are not a option since I have Skyrim on 360. If anyone knows anything about how to be able to get a divorce and get remarried on console I would be very greatful.

Sorry. I think there's a mod as well, but it's for PC of course. And yes, same-six marriage is definitely allowed.

Did not know about the console commands, i am gonna try that and marry again, my character is after all a player, so a wife in every town would fit :D.

This seems to be a common complaint, possible it will be added in an expansion, I hope.
