Game beginning to lagg considerably.

Lately I have been having issues with my Skyrim save. Load screens are becoming increasingly longer, taking several minutes sometimes. Equipping items takes AGES. It takes me 1-2 minutes to equip all of my armor and weapons because of the lagg when I equip an item. I have about 100 manual games saves, the save has about 150 hours played and 280+ locations discovered, so could these things be possible factors that cause lagg?

Also, what finally got me to make this thread is that when I continue from my last save, the game just sits on the loading screen forever. I waited 10 minutes and it was still loading.

Yes, I have heard before that a large number of savegames may affect performance.

Also, do you use the autosave feature?
That is a contributor to savegame bloating and long loading times.

Its also best not to overwrite saves, but to delete one and make a new one in a fresh slot.

Are you on PS3 - it has known lag issues with large save files.

If you're on a PS3, don't expect a fix anytime soon.
EDIT NEVERMIND, the thread was moved to the 360 boards.

Well, I have multiple accounts. Warrior/rogue/mage. I also like to have backups in case I use a skillpoint in the wrong skill or regret something I did on the game, etc. I rarely use the autosave since I'm switching between accounts regularly.

It could be the large number of saves.

What could also be a factor is how much youve changed the game from its original loading, I mean, how many items youre carrying with you, if youve displaced a lot of stuff. All the things the game has to keep track of.

Game cells reset in about a month.
You can try going to a small indoor place and waiting there for a game month + a few days, to reset all other cells to their original settings, Im told that can help.

Mind that I am not sure if these things are actually the cause, or if it will help, but I figure its worth a try.

Good luck :)

There are other threads talking about this - lag does not seem to be a PS3 exclusive issue. It just takes longer to show up on 360 games. Turning off autosave and keeping a smaller number of save files can help, but there looks to be a problem with the game engine's memory management. It's made worse if you have left items lying around everywhere - more stuff for it to have to keep track of.
