What's the best house in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:17 pm

I've bought 2 houses so far; the one in Whiterun and the one in Markarth. Of course, I prefer the Markarth house which is so large and nice, but since it's so far west, it takes a lot of time to fast-travel every now and then for the spouse-bonus, to get/store ingredients, blacksmith supplies etc. SO - what house do you use as your main spot to store all you need?

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses

has handy charts comparing amounts of storage, displays etc, and details things like locations.

Markarth is the best imo, due to the most convenient storage and generally quite nice look & layout.
Whiterun is probably my second favourite, the location is better and the storage is just about adequate.

But all are bad compared to how much better they will be 5 minutes after the Creation Kit gets released! :)

Cool that the 2 houses I've bought is in your top 2 :) I think Whiterun is the best house locationwise, and it's got enough storage for me atm. Allthough I miss my house in Markarth! Am thinking of having Markarth as my blacksmithing-base though, due to all the nice mines around there.

I like the one in Windhelm, most storage and shelves, etc. Just wish that any of 'em had a mini-smelter and forge, sigh...

I still use the Whiterun house often however; it has a convenient central location and several vendors next door or very nearby.

Yeah, and the smithy next door, with smelter and 2 vendors to sell my stuff to, is great. But I wish they would've made the Whiterun home the largest and nicest one, since it's got the best location by far when travelling the world.
