Does clipping make you re-roll?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:07 am

All,

Female Breton mage. All long and some medium hair styles. Mage robes. Serious clipping. The hair object is lodged into my robe in such a way that it is mostly beneath it, but in places the graphics poke out. Just a few pixels here or there. But man its driving me crazy.

Is this just a situation with the starting robe? What about some of the other simple robes such as the black robes or etc? I dont like short hairstyles with the Breton female faces, but I may have no choice. I think I may have to play through from my save game (just moments before I select race and name) through to the torture room in the tutorial for a 7th time.

:)

Hair clipping does bug me a bit.

Of course, from long experience I expect long hair to clip, so I tend not to even look at or choose long styles. (Only "long-ish" styles I tend to use are high ponytails. But I mostly just pick short styles.)

I doubt I'd re-roll a character because of that, though. Depending, of course, on how bad it is, and how much time & effort the re-roll would take.

Expert and Master level robes shouldn't clip with your hair unless they clip with your shoulders already

Honestly most of my people have short hair because they're in battle and really, you don't want long hair in a battle

I'm using the short hair on my Breton and I like it. It's the only hairstyle that compensates for the forehead of doom on all the other hairs. More bangs please :)

Long hair is gonna clip.

My best example is from the DCUO beta... everyone was screaming at Sony, "please we want long hair for our superheroes!" Sony finally added long hair to the game but said basically "here you go, don't blame us for the clipping". It's going to happen, you want long hair, it's gonna clip.

My only clipping issue as a female Nord is certain armor.. (I think it was fur maybe?) my butt would clip through.. oh well.

Wouldn't a solution be to make armors have collision? That way hair doesn't clip into them?

I'm no expert, but I'd wager that would make it sporadically bounce around out of control... if I know anything about TES's physics system, and I think I do :P

I guess I am just gonna re-make the character the way she "should" look. Its not even "long" per se, its just not short. But I think I'll just make her the way I envision her and just ignore any clipping. The short hair on my character annoys me more than the clipping.
